ECW Bankruptcy & Tape Library Matter Settled

Recommended Posts

Guest Nevermortal

ECW's bankruptcy hearings are coming to a close. In Demand has to pay the ECW trustee all PPV monies owed minues the penalty for not putting on a March 2001 PPV ($25,000) for a total of $724,456.40 to settle ECW's suit against InDemand.

About $375,000 will go for attorney and court fees. The rest will go to Acclaim, who is owed about $875,000. They will also probably get the tape library because no one else has expressed interest in owning it.

There still remains some investigation as to what Joey Styles owes the ECW estate, much from the official ECW website.

Why does Joey Styles owe ECW?

Also, why should Acclaim get the ECW tape library? Fuck, I'll buy it! How much?

Seriously though, WWE would be stupid not to scoop up ECW footage.

Where is Pioneer in all of this? I thought they owned the footage?

I would expect the WWE to pick up the ECW footage from Acclaim at a better price then buying it straight out for the simple reason, What the hell is a video game company going to do with wrestling footage?

Acclaim could very easily reach out in the home video forum and distribute ECW footage via compilations or whole events, becoming an ECW distributor a la Pioneer.

Doesn't WWE have a court case against Acclaim?

I remember reading WWE is suing Acclaim for money they own WWE for their video games.

If that's still going on, maybe Vince would say "let's settle this case in exchange for the ECW video footage."

Delta are the company that release ECW here in the UK. They have the rights to every single show.
