Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 4, 2002 Gordon, Montoya to swap cars Aug. 12 (Aug 2) tsn.ca - Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya and NASCAR star Jeff Gordon are swapping cars. The four time Winston Cup champion, who has always indicated an interest in driving an F1 car, will turn his No. 24 Chevy over to Montoya in what is being billed as a "speed demonstration" on August 12 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The event is being organized by BMW, which sponsor Montoya's F1 team. Rick Hendrick, who runs cars for Gordon, and BMW U.S. chairman Tom Purves came up with the idea while taking part in a vintage automobile race in Italy this past May. The two were teammates behind the wheel of a 1938 BMW. This will be the first time Gordon has driven an F1 car while Montoya has never sat behind the wheel of a stock car in his racing career. all i can say is this... it can sure settle a lot of disputes against NASCAR vs F1
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 5, 2002 Are they going to race each other at Indy? Hmm..I can't see Gordon driving F1 Cars on a permanent basis, but he's done about as much as he can do in NASCAR (aside from winning 8 Championships - hes halfway there). I don't know.. Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted August 6, 2002 Keep in mind that the rumors of Gordon going Indy racing have been around for awhile, but I doubt he'd ever do anything like that. He's successful in Nascar, why would he leave?
Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 6, 2002 So are they driving the oval, the F1 track, or both?
