Do they still exist? I've seen some of their matches and quite frankly I loved it, but for some reason it seems as if they're defunct. is that true?

They declared banruptcy earlier this year, and although there have been a few attempts to restart it, it looks like FMW is gone for good.

Damn. They really had some good stuff in there. Might you reccomend a puro league that might tempt me along the same lines as FMW?

There are two spinoff groups of FMW.

Onita's FMW is a very old school type of FMW (old school being 1989-1995)

Kodo Fuyuki runs WEW, made of most of the wrestlers that were in FMW until the end.

WMF starts up later in August run by Mr Ganosuke and Hayabusa.

It just depends on your tastes, I guess.

Since ALL the men's leagues bore the hell out of me these days, the only stuff I buy is Joshi.

Wow... Gannosuke, and Hayabusa running a fed..... That is highly intriguing

WEW as well, thank you all for giving me direction to waste even more money I should be using for rent ;)

I like all the federations in Japan, personally. I'm just a wrestling fan who likes wrestling, so I like NJPW, AJPW, NOAH, AJW etc. etc.

Annie, why not try them all?!

I'm a wrestling fan, but I like great wrestling, and there just aren't many wrestlers out there right now that I'd pay to see, which is why I'm always looking to expand my collection with more Jumbo--the best wrestler I haven't seen nearly enough of.

Well, as far as FMW goes, the spin-off groups each seem to represent a different time period on FMW history. Fuyuki's WEW is basically the total "Sportz Entertainment" act that he tried to get over for years at the expense of the product. Unless you want a poor-man's WWE imitation (complete with numerous failed invasion angles!), you should probably leave that alone. Onita's FMW is basically everything that FMW was in the early ninties, basically, the hardcore movement. Onita has a huge niche fan base, but as far as death matches go, don't get too excited. Then there's Hayabusa and Ganosuke's federation. While those two (and Masato Tanaka) were responsible for the closest thing to "high-end" matches that FMW ever put out, Busa is paralyzed and Gonosuke is pretty damn broken down as he is.

Basically, it depends on which FMW you saw that actually made you want to see more.

And, just to clarify, I'm of the opinion that there really isn't too much to get excited about in any of the current men's federations. NJ can get me a little excited, but usually that all breaks down after a few Giant Silva matches. At least Mutoh and Ka Shin are no longer around to make me question my sanity.
