Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 5, 2002 The same teams are on everyweek. Worse is the lousy Cubs are on all the time. God forbid they have the Twins on. They don't have the 2nd best record in the American League do they. The game in 2 weeks against Boston is the first game on Sunday Night Baseball in 6 years. Than Baseball Tonight always finds it appropriate to put the Twins highlights with about 20 minutes left in the show.

Guest alkeiper Report post Posted August 5, 2002 Regional Broadcasting. Means I get to see Yankees all the damned time. Its not that I hate the Yankees (though I do), its tht I could see them anyway on cable.
Guest LatinoHeat Report post Posted August 5, 2002 I got to see the red sox win and pedro martinez improve his winning record to 15-2.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 5, 2002 I don't want to see regional broadcasting because that means the Cubs are on all the time.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 5, 2002 They do the same with Football...If the Bengals aren't playing they assume I give a shit about Pittsburgh...I live closer to Indy, let me watch them. This is why for baseball,I just brought Extra Innings.
Guest meanmaisch Report post Posted August 5, 2002 I hate the FOX broadcasts anyway. Their announcers, aside from Tim McCarver, are awful. ESPN Sunday night games are better. They have a much better announcing team in Joe Morgan and Jon Miller.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted August 5, 2002 My Uncle is a Yankees fan in Indiana, he gets pissed when Fox shows the Cubs instead. Verne nobody watches the Twins, that's why they aren't on TV much. They play in a joke of a stadium and noone cares. The "Humpty Dump" shouldn't be shown on TV at all, it's an embarrasment to the sport. I know the Twins are a good team in a horrible division with no competition but that doesn't mean that they will draw along the lines of Sox/Yanks.
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted August 6, 2002 I live in Illinois I so get the Cubs (not my team) the White Sox (my team) or St. Louis or Houston if the Cubs or Chisox are not playing
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Why are the Yankees and Red Sox such great draws. The Mets/Yankees World Series ratings weren't very good. The media does have a East Coast bias, because that's where most of them are. That doesn't mean the rest of the country cares to see the Yankees and Red Sox everyweek. The Twins are 2nd behind the Seattle for TV ratings. Whose to say that the ratings wouldn't be better if they where on TV instead of Chicago.Playing in a terrible stadium shouldn't be a factor at all.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Proof that FOX has a bias toward the East Coast teams: Last year during interleague play, the following games were being played at the same time: Yankees vs. Mets Indians vs. Reds Cubs vs. White Sox Guess which one aired in the Cleveland market. Remember the Indians are at home and sold out for the weekend. Yep. The Yankees vs the Mets. Fuck them. Let them show the Yankees in markets that might give a shit. I'd rather see anybody but the Yankees, so of course, we get more Yankee games than anybody lse. Fuck them.

(Don't ask me why Hawaii is getting Midwest Region games; I have no earthly idea...)
Guest Phr33k Report post Posted August 7, 2002 THERE'S NO EXPOS COVERAGE ANYWHERE EXCEPT THOSE STUPID FRENCH CHANNELS IN MONTREAL ARRRRRRGHHH!!!! Actually, they're on The Score all the time, during Diamond Surfing, but I had to vent. Can you believe that tonight's game vs. the Cardinals had NO TV COVERAGE ANYWHERE? Even in St. Louis? Those guys need to get their priorities straight.

Those guys need to get their priorities straight. Might I add that Diamond Surfing is possibly the stupidest thign I've ever seen. I was in Halifax in 8/2001 we're watching the SOx/Rays and all of the sudden they just switch to another game and then another and then another and then another. It took them until the 7th inning to realize that Pedro had a fucking no hitter going and there was already a brawl in the game because Gerald "Ice" Williams is an asshole. Aren't decisions on which game to air made by local station programmers? If that's true, then why the fuck would the Cleveland market refuse to show the Cleveland game? And we're not talking about this year when they suck. This was last year when they would have beaten Seattle in four games if they would have had a competent manager. A local programmer picking the Yankees over the local team would be committing ratings suicide

Guest Mad the Swine Report post Posted August 8, 2002 Frustration time: ESPN carried the Braves last night (we Braves fans hate their coverage to begin with, but that's another story). Two outs, a man on for the Braves in the top of the 9th; they're trailing 3-6. Two outs, now, and this could be pivotal. Byung Hung Kim fires and delivers and... BARRY'S HITTING! BARRY'S HITTING! SCREW EVERYBODY ELSE! BARRY'S HITTING ... we return to find that the Braves are still hitting, with two men on. Now, we were able to see the next man (Matt Franco) end the game, but what if Julio Franco got a quick base hit and Matt knocked 'em all in why we're deliberating with Barry? Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 8, 2002 God this sucks. The Cardnials are on for the 3rd week in a row this Sunday. Not only are they playing terrible, but you've got much better matchups this weekend. What was ESPN doing this afternoon. Instead of cutting to Bonds first AB, they keep some tennis match with Agassi that no one cares about and some NFL highlight show. ESPN was telling us their going to interrupt for every Bonds AB up until 600.

Not only are they playing terrible, but you've got much better matchups this weekend. I will never get tired of seeing the Cardinals lose. What was ESPN doing this afternoon. Instead of cutting to Bonds first AB, they keep some tennis match with Agassi that no one cares about and some NFL highlight show. ESPN was telling us their going to interrupt for every Bonds AB up until 600. I thought that was weird too. I was watching the game on WGN and switched over too see if any other station was covering it, but not even ESPNews had it on.
Guest Mad the Swine Report post Posted August 9, 2002 My point being with the Braves and Bonds being: If they care so much, get the rights to broadcast the game. We, as Braves fans, would much rather watch the game on TBS/Turner South. We do not like ESPN snatching the game from our networks. WGN doesn't even broadcast but about half of the Cubs' games. I'm pretty sure they didn't broadcast the Wednesday game. But if WGN was broadcasting it, just get the rights from them. ESPN is always taking games away from Turner networks that had been scheduled for airplay there.
