Guest Tony149 Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Man. Was it me, or did "Smackdown" seriously suck ass tonight? There were four matches, right? One of which lasted all of about 2 minutes before ending in a DQ. I understand that the emphasis is on Sports Entertainment, but they need to have SOME wrestling on the shows. The Austin-Hall thing was just dumb, in my opinion. It's really inconsistent with the potrayal of the nWo thus far to have them run from Austin like that. Yeah, Smackdown sucked. I agree about the nWo/Austin stuff. After a good start to the nWo, it seems to have cooled down.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 sigh. Smackdown was garbage. They need to actually have some wrestling on some of these show...I guess I'll go watch Heat. On a side note...I get to see Hall's first match back in the WWF on Saturday... No I'm not that pumped either.
Guest Mikey2Dope Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 That show was the purest form of garbage I have ever witnessed. The tag team scene needs some new blood in there and quick. There isn't one tag team I could even care less about these days. I just don't understand the WWF writers anymore. Everybody on this board could book a better show then these crackheads. Simple logic right: The nWo are supposed to be monster heels that are supposed to take over the WWF so you write angles where they destroy mid-carders and upper-carders and everything in sight. Too bad these days the WWF can't even figure the easy stuff out. The nWo looked like the biggest wussy's tonight and they haven't even been there a week.
Guest Some Guy Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Shouldn't the nWo be allowed to establish themsevles a bad ass heels before they are made to look like idiots? This seems like the obvious thing business wise to me.
Guest TheMikeSC Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Man. Was it me, or did "Smackdown" seriously suck ass tonight? I vehemently disagree. Saying that this show seriously sucked ass would be an insult to all those shows that seriously suck ass. This was so much worse. There were four matches, right? One of which lasted all of about 2 minutes before ending in a DQ. I understand that the emphasis is on Sports Entertainment, but they need to have SOME wrestling on the shows. I don't consider the Kane v Angle thing a match. It was a 2-minute fight. They had three matches and two, honestly, were decent. But, when you have, at most, 20 minutes of wrestling on a 2-hour show, you have a REALLY bad show. I don't think anybody thought the WWF's problem as of late was a LACK of non-wrestling segments. Man, I'm on the verge of waxing nostalgic about the KMA club. The Austin-Hall thing was just dumb, in my opinion. It's really inconsistent with the potrayal of the nWo thus far to have them run from Austin like that. Anything that might end their employment a little quicker is gravy. As far as things I did like: Hooking Jericho up with Steph could be the key to finally getting Jericho the sort of consistent crowd response that a main event guy needs. Good. I'd say so---but when has Steph EVER given somebody she's with heat? And I appreciate the fact that they're at least doing something with Christian. Other than that, it was a really disappointing way to follow a great RAW. RAW was hardly great---average is about as nice as I can get on this. SD was a Thunder-level show tonight. -=Mike ...Feeling a little dirty for even watching it.
Guest Stupendous Man Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 The show was very "there" much of the same old, same old. The six man was a neat little match until the Hardyz decided to channel Eddy Guerrero and CHEAT TO WIN~! Damn I miss Eddy...and Chavo...ah hell, just about everyone the WWF has under contract, but not on TV anymore.
Guest Risk Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Man, why is it that the Hardys and "Lita" cheat more than most of the heels? Why do the commentators not point this out? BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL FACES! The WWF needs to grow up and stop forcing this childish, cartoonish, black and white heel/face stuff down our throats. Anyways...Christian and Lance cheat less than the Hardys... Michael Cole was his usual crappy self...why is he on the second biggest show of the week? THE GUY IS A FUCKING MORON! I didn't like King sating all that stuff about how Kurt should of not asked for anyone, trying to make Kane sound intimidating. He needs to stop pushing the heels, he needs to be realistic, but he's pretty good compared to the rest. Jericho and Steph was just an excuse for Steph to steal some of Jericho's heat...nothing more. SHE has to be in the spotlight, after all. God forbide it be about the WRESTLERS. The nWo segment was terrible, the insider beer jokes were humorous though.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 "Man, why is it that the Hardys and "Lita" cheat more than most of the heels? Uh...they are faces yet they cheat sometimes, ergo they are not black and white face/heel. Nice way to contradict yourself in the same paragraph.
Guest Risk Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Don't try to light a flame..I'm not in the mood. I was talking about the commentators being "black and white" in terms of characters, who they put over essensialy. So, no, I didn't contradict myself. What do you mean cheat "some of the time?" They almost ALWAYS have Lita do the Hurricanrana to get a cheat crowd pop.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 We got fake crowd nosie for the Edge/Christian match Practically every Smackdown match gets fake heat, or at least the volume turned up. And.... ~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~~~ That's me marking out for Chuck & Billy as new tag champs! But mostly just for Chuck.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Yeah, but it's always fun hearing the fake noise.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 So..........where are all the marks proclaiming this a great show like they were for Raw?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 They all disapeared when the Raw ratings came in. They never even made it to Smackdown.
Guest Flair5000 Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 In fairness, they're probably recognising that Smackdown sucked. And Raw was pretty good. Billy and Chuck tag champs? GROAN. I was fearing this for weeks.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Guys, you have got to be kidding. Just because people liked the nWo/Rock segment on Raw (Myself included) doesn't mean they will always like the product. While some here seem to be very pro-WWF (A little to pro, may I add) doesn't mean everybody who liked the show are "marks". Trying to get to 1000, bps21?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 I beleive he's referring to ihatesmarksandmarks, and that other guy...and BigBadBootyDaddy. Almost to 1000. You're almost to 2000.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 I beleive he's referring to ihatesmarksandmarks, and that other guy...and BigBadBootyDaddy. Almost to 1000. You're almost to 2000. Those were the "Pro-WWF" guys I was talking about as well. Good luck on your quest for 1000. Now when the words "post whore" are thrown around....I won't get the only one who receives them.
Guest WWF4Life Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 I enjoyed SmackDown...sorry It wasn't as good as Raw, but I liked what they did with the nWo. When it's one on one, they get their BUTT kicked. When they're all together, they come out on top. Simple but effective story telling. The angle with Christian is also intriguing...I'm not sure where it's going, but I'm looking forward to finding out. =)
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 When they're all together, they come out on top But wasn't that Austin beating on all 3 on Smackdown? And Austin causing them to run away? And outsmarting them? The NWO is supposed to be this poison that threatens the very existence of the WWF. They should have punked out Austin, not run away like cowards.
