Guest Intimacy Goblin Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 Kissing Jessica Stien was a chick flick, but it was awesome. It's a romantic comedy about lesbians.
Guest Flyboy Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 Kissing Jessica Stien was a chick flick, but it was awesome. It's a romantic comedy about lesbians. Is it a foreign film? Because, if it is I THINK I know what movie you're talking about.
Guest Marshall Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 The only movies that made me cry are: My Girl - When she runs into the funeral because Thomas J needs his glases ET - When ET dies and when he leaves Stepmom - Besause Susan Sarandon knew that she was going to die but she had to stay strong for her children
Guest CanadianChris Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 Sliding Doors and 10 Things I Hate About You were very good. I also really enjoyed Sleepless In Seattle.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Bridget Jones's Diary was great. Oh, I forgot about this one! Yea, I never read the book but I saw this in theatres back on its initial release and enjoyed it very much.

Because, if it is I THINK I know what movie you're talking about. It's not a foreign film (I don't think) but it is an independent film. It probably is the same movie you're thinking about. I always wanted to see it but I never got around to. I thought it wasn't necessarily about lesbians, but about two heterosexuals that try being lesbians... I dunno, maybe I'm getting it wrong, like I said I never saw it.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Bridget Jones (mumbles) was a good movie.

Guest The Man in Blak Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 ...oh, boy. All right, here's my chick flick picks: When Harry Met Sally My Best Friend's Wedding Shakespeare in Love Forces of Nature The Cutting Edge
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 My better half's side of the DVD bookshelf in our house has these two that I don't mind watching... Return to Me The Princess Bride
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 The Princess Bride owns all. I have yet to meet a person that didn't like that movie. Cary Elwes, Billy Crystal, Andre The Giant, a comment about boobs...what's not to like?
Guest The Man in Blak Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 Oh, wow. I never really considered The Princess Bride to be a chick flick...but it's definitely a good movie.
Guest El Satanico Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I actually don't have anything against "chick flicks". If it's a good movie i'll like it regardless of the genre. However the only chick flicks that i hate are the romantic comedies starring Meg Ryan. Sure How Harry Met Sally isn't a bad movie. However other then that the only Meg Ryan "romantic comedy" that i can watch is Addicted to Love. Which was the one with Matthew Broderick and he's actually why i liked it. However the biggest chick flick movie that i like which would get stares and laughs from most guys is... Moulin Rouge Yes i can freely admit that i liked Moulin Rouge alot.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 "Oh, wow. I never really considered The Princess Bride to be a chick flick...but it's definitely a good movie." Really? It seems like one to me (not that I'm dissing it mind you).
Guest evenflowDDT Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I never thought of Princess Bride as a chick flick either. Fairy tales are different than chick flicks in my book, but El Satanico said it best, a good movie is a good movie, regardless of the genre.
Guest massivHEDtrauma Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 Moulin Rouge OWNED~! I cannot believe no one has mentioned the ultimate chick flick...Dirty Dancing! Anyways, yes, Dirty Dancing rules. As does The Princess Bride.
Guest The Man in Blak Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 Uh...Wouldn't Moulin Rouge be considered a musical before a chick flick? I mean, just because a movie focuses about love doesn't necessarily mean it's a chick flick, does it? And, while Dirty Dancing has some of the most glaring chick flick stereotypes in movie history...it is very watchable and the acting from Jennifer Grey and Swayze is actually decent.
Guest El Satanico Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 Well i'm not sure what the definition of "chick flick" is, but a large part of it is anything about romance. I'd venture to say that most guys see the majority of musicals as chick flicks.
Guest Flyboy Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I cannot believe no one has mentioned the ultimate chick flick...Dirty Dancing! Anyways, yes, Dirty Dancing rules. As does The Princess Bride. I've always hated that fucking movie... just thinking about it... Although, the song at the end will always be damned good to me.
Guest Flyboy Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 Would Pretty Woman be considered a 'chick flick'? Or Titantic for that matter?
Guest massivHEDtrauma Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I would consider both of those chick flicks, and they both RULE~! Although Titanic is much better and I do despise Julia Roberts. Eff her Oscar win for Erin Brockovich, as a matter of fact, eff Erin Brockovich altogether.
Guest Lethargic Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 The thing with chick flicks, is that they usually have CHICKS in them. And they're usually hot. So why should't guys like chick movies? One of my favorites is the Spitfire Grill. Pretty much everything else has been said. Is Charlies Angels a chick flick? It's sorta girl powerish. If so....I'm all over Charlies Angels.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I saw Dirty Dancing 3 times at the theatre.
