Guest Bricks Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 Heel Turn: Rock at Survivor Series '98. It was great because he had valid reasons to hate the fans and then said he would never ever forgive them for those "Rocky Sucks" and "Die Rocky Die" chants. Of course that ended after Backlash. Oh well. Face Turn: Savage at WM7. I *hated* Savage before the match. Then when all the drama happens, I cheered.
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 The Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff comes to the ring with Dusty Rhodes to fight the Horsemen. Then they explain the turn in a studio sit down interview with Rhodes and Koloff and it made sense. Jim Cornette smashing whichever Dynamic Dude it was (Shane I think..someone will correct me) with his racquet and rejoining the Midnight Express!
Guest Andy Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 Face turn: Savage in '91. Heel turn: Backlund in mid-nineties. Thanks, Andy
Guest Just call me Dan Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 I liked both of HHH's big heel turns. His turning on X-Pac at Wrestlemania 15 after you thought Chyna came back to D-X did it for me. His turn on Shawn was excellent as well but it has led to pure crap. Jericho's was absolutely awesome and just the start of Jericho/Rock even as face vs face was put of nowhere and really entertaining. Bret/Austin is the best ever, I agree with most of you, it will never be duplicated. I just think that some of the recent turns (Even Christians was well done, although it didn't lead to much either) have been pretty decent. There have been so many recently though, some have to be good out of the hundreds they do every couple of years.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 11, 2002 Report Posted August 11, 2002 Two words: PAUL ORNDOFF Perfect
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted August 11, 2002 Report Posted August 11, 2002 Not my #1 face turn or even in my top 10 probably, but the way the WWF did the Benoit face turn in 2001 was perfect. They simply just had him be the badass that he is, and the fans finally caught on. The night after No Way Out, Benoit came down to the ring and told Angle that he'd "Make him tap like the little bitch that he is", and I knew it was, in the words of the great Stevie Ray, "On like neckbone." Favorite Face Turn: Savage @ WM VII Favorite Heel Turn: Bret @ WM XIII
Guest imajackoff? Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 WM13 was merely cementing Austin as a babyface with the WWF. In the fans eyes, he was already a babyface. Check out all of the Austin 3:16 t shirts and banners in the crowd for that show. Turning Bret Hart heel was the tougher task, and they executed things beautifuly. Face turn: Sgt Slaughter 1983. He's not stepping aside for you, Shiek!!!! Heel turn: Hart at WM13
