How to Connect from any Linux to Verizon DSL?

Dear thesmartmarks.com members,

 

I don't know if you may be able to help me, but I am going to install Linux on my Laptop and I have Verizon Online DSL, and was wondering if there is anybody that would be able to give me instructions as to what I need to do in order to connect to my Verizon DSL modem and from there to the internet. I have never used Linux for anything other than stupid stuff, and am now currently on a quest to learn it and understand it, but I need your help with this small step. If anybody has done this before or know somebody who has please help me out, and also other members of thesmartmarks.com (If anybody was interested). I would appreciate a email with the instructions, but I will be checking back occassionaly.
