Guest redbaron51 Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 knowing this comes to the PS2 has anyone actually played this game and is it similar to Driver in a way
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted August 5, 2002 Report Posted August 5, 2002 I haven't played Driver in like 3 years. Stuntamn has potential because there are some cool things to do, but the load times will irritate you sometimes. You are driving a car and you have a director yelling out stunts at you to perform, so you aren't going to get everything right on the first try. When you try to start the course over, you have to wait for the loading time. The game has decent physics and nice graphics though. I wish they would come up with a replay feature for the GTA games because I do some spetacular shit that I wish I could see from different angles.
Guest DVD Spree Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 I played an 80% complete version of Stuntman when I was working at GamesMaster. It handles a lot like Driver, which meant that I was automatically shite at it. The game is very, very, VERY frusrating at first - basically, it plays like an timed obstacle course without a map or any hint as to what's coming up next. It could be a shrp turn, it could be a trashcan, it could be a misstimed swerve between two cars - but I watched a veteran games player repeat the first level about twenty times with lots of colourful vocabulary and threats towards our PS2 before he cracked it. BUt it's one of those games that's so frustrating it becomes FIERCELY addictive - as youstart to know where the traps are, you become compelled not ot let them get the better of you. ANd it really is quite satisfying when you pull around a hairpin bend, hit a handbrake turn, swerve between two cop cars and ramp over a dumpster. The cutscenes are pretty sweet, although a little too MGS-like for me (as in, you tend to forget you're playing a game because you're watching too much filler). And, cool as it is to pull off these stunts, it does feel VERY robotic. You're driving against the clock, and obstacles and hazards are set to activate at certain times. So, on the first level say, there's a tunnel you have to drive through, and at about the twenty second mark, two cars are on the road at the same time and you have to swerve between them. However, if you're doing well and you get to that part BEFORE the twenty second point, the two cars won't be there yet. The hazards don't seem sensitive to your presence - they just kind of happen when they're programmed to happen, and it makes the game feel kind of disjointed and un-interactive. We reckoned it was worth a good 80% or so - a strong game, but not a classic or anything. Hope that helps. Jay
Guest -Cutthroat- Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 I've never played it before but from what I've herd it really great...
Guest jimmy no nose Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 It has the same driving mechanics as Driver. It's a very good game, but it's very, very hard. You be so frustrated while playing it, but once you finish you might feel like you've actually accomplished something, which is a good feeling. You might want to rent it first to see if you'll be able to put up with it.
Guest NazMistry Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 I wish they would come up with a replay feature for the GTA games because I do some spetacular shit that I wish I could see from different angles. Do you have the PC or PS2 version? On the PC there is a replay function.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 its frustrated, but it can be great fun
