McKinnie, the Vikings' only unsigned draft pick, has already held out of training camp for more than a week. "They told us we could either accept or reject but that it was their final offer,'' Ben Dogra, one of McKinnie's agents, said late Thursday. "What they're offering is simply below market value. They told us that if we rejected it, they would simply move forward without him.'' Without McKinnie, the Vikings would use Lewis Kelly and Everett Lindsay at left tackle. The 6-foot-8, 343-pound McKinnie could still work his way into the lineup if he signs. "We do not comment on contract negotiations,'' said Rob Brzezinski, vice president of football operations. Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted August 6, 2002 Yeah I love it when players from other teams hold out, but it sucks when your players do - I'm not sure but I don't think Jimmy Smith has reported to camp yet. As for McKinnie..when they were announcing the draft picks signing I couldn't put my finger on the top picks who hadn't signed. So this is one. Holding out this late into preseason is seriously going to cost him a starting job...if he doesn't know the offense they won't play him. He struck me as a guy who was pissed the Mike Williams was taken ahead of him. They have some system that uses the # of picks and how high they are. Most teams don't spend the entire cap, and use the rest of the $ on other people.
