Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted August 6, 2002 Chick Hearn, voice of the Los Angeles Lakers, died today. He was 85. While I can't stand the Lakers, Hearn was always a great announcer. One of the best across all sports. He had signature sayings and called the action as objectively as you'll hear from a person who announces only one team. He will be missed. :puts beer glass up in the air and toasts: Here's to you, Chick.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted August 6, 2002 A very sad day for the world of sports, the Laker family, and the citizens of Southern California who were privledged to be able to hear Chick call Laker games for so many years. My prayers and condolences go out to his family. God bless you Chick, you will be missed.
Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted August 6, 2002 I'm also not a big Laker fan, but for a guy like Chick Hearn who has all those amazing accomplishments, it'll will truly be a big loss to the NBA and basketball in whole. Chick Hearn sure did have a great legacy in announcing and he will be missed. :Puts beer in the air and gives Chick Hearn a toast as well:

Guest MentallyNormal Report post Posted August 6, 2002 Indeed that guy saw so many basketball legends. An the man had great respect for work. I loved how he said airball. It rolled off his toungue like a poet. I like how he would be honest about the teams and players when they did crappy. A Class Act Indeed that was Chick Hearn.
