Holy fuck. If WCW did one thing, it was letting them do that for Owen on Nitro. Do you know what that segment got for ratings? I would assume really big.

I remember getting to see that match in full, and it ruled total ass.

It was a great show of respect and memory.

You're right, what the hell where people watching?

Actually, it was a three-way Rock/Foley/Jericho promo (the one with the line about "some jabroni named Juventud").

WCW was on its death bed just about, so I didn't watch any WCW in 1999 or 2000 (except the 1 after Fall Brawl 99)

I don't know what you guys were watching, but no way was I gonna miss Benoit/Hart. So I'm glad I saw that damn match, and fuck WCW for going to a commercial in a TRIBUTE MATCH.

*****, match of 1999, maybe match of the decade in NA. Still not sure if it's better than Hart/Austin at WM 13...

I think Benoit/Bret was better because it was a tribute match to Owen....which meant THAT much more. Obviously, it didn't matter who won...but just the dedication to Owen made that match much more important than any "I Quit" match.

We have a few Hart Foundation marks here obviously.

I would figure most people were watching the WWF's promo-filled tribute instead. Didn't both happen at the same time?

I'd barely started to watch wrestling then (November '98), and didn't watch WCW, so even if the match would've meant anything (participants wise, other than the fact that Bret was his brother) even if I knew the match was to take place

BTW, anybody know somewhere non-KaZaA that I could DL this match?

The WWF's tribute was on 24 May 1999, the night after "Over The Edge"... The Hart/Benoit match was in October, so they weren't, uhm, in competition with each other.

 WHAT THE HELL WERE PEOPLE WATCHING??

On Raw, when the match started, they were finishing up something with Jarrett/Moolah & Mae. In the next segment, Raw's ratings fell from a 6.7 to 5.9 ... Mankind and the Rock did some promo involving a couple of guys from "G Vs. E".

The Hart/Benoit match finished up as a match between Bulldog & Chyna started, after the Rock/Foley promo finished up. ... So, basically, people were watching some really stupid WWF crap.

That is my answer to a question that was, most likely, rhetorical.
