Austin: Busted open by non opponenet at KOTR 98, pinned by 2 men at breakdown, tapping out while being under the ropes, and losing by a BOOKER T run in. Oy. Only good time was when Mankind beat him.

 

Hogan: The EVIL referee, stripped of title for cheating(!?), fireball from a camera. (Plus the tombstone on sa chair but that wasnt too bad)

 

Wow, were they BOTH that unwilling to actually LOSE the title cleanly more then once.

Stone Cold Steve Austin just barely edges out Hogan on this one. Why? Not only did Austin lead the second revolution of the WWF into the 21st Century, but Austin was 5 times the wrestler that Hogan ever was, and Austin was a better Champion. Hulk Hogan was a great Champion, however during the Hulkamania phase, he cared more about the Hulkamaniacs then his World Title. Whenever Austin was a Champion, heel or face, he made it clear that he didn't care what the fans thought, as long as he had the WWF Title draped on his shoulder. His final reign last year (which was the best of the 2000s so far) cemented his status as being "Obsessed with the WWF Title". I think Heyman put it best. "Stone Cold Steve Austin is the greatest WWF Champion of all time. He sold his soul to win back the title, imagine what it's gonna take for someone to take it away from him."
