Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted August 7, 2002 I've heard a story how Austin actually begged Bret to come back to feud with him in the WWF and re-sign with the WWF...but I'm not sure if it's true. Figured I'd ask you guys and...how was the relationship between the 2? I would think it was good considering they had 3 *****'s together. (Survivor Series, Mania 13, & Canadian Stampede). Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted August 7, 2002 I doubt they really had that good of a relationship outside of the company. I mean, you wouldn't walk the streets and see them having long interlectual conversations with each other. I know that WCW was offering him a contract (of course to be the 3r dnWoite) but from there i'm lost.
Guest Si82 Report post Posted August 7, 2002 The story line kinda went along the lines the Austin wanted Bret to come back just so he could face him in a match. I don't think it happened in real likfe though.

I think they may have had an ok relationship outside of the company, but I don't believe they'd be friends or anything. Hart was one of the ones who was against the Stone Cold gimmick, but then again, according to Foley's book, he did want to drop the title to him or Foley. So therefore he must of liked him a lot more then he did HBK

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 7, 2002 As I recall... It was Bret HArt who said that Austin was begging him to come back...and I quote the best I can... "Because the Kliq bullshit was getting out of hand" I read or hear Bret say that somewhere a while ago. Now...Nash and Hall were gone... So it had to be Austin being upset about Shawn Micheals and his political agenda.
Guest The REAL Great One Report post Posted August 8, 2002 I'm inclined to beleiving Bret Hart in what he said about Austin begging him to come back to stop the Kliq bullshit, but that's just me. I can understand if some people would question it because it did come from Bret Hart. I just think Bret's got a pretty good track record. Anyways, Bret did write a column about Stone Cold; I found it in his 1999 archives section of his Slam Wrestling columns. I'm not sure if any of guys have read it, but it's interesting to note that, from the column, Bret and Austin are on pretty cool terms. I think that is one of the things that made their feud so good. Many people to this day, smarts and marks, have the misconception that Bret and Austin didn't like each other. I guess Bret and Austin played their roles very effectively. I wish more feuds were like Bret-Austin. Here's the link: http://www.canoe.ca/SlamWrestlingBretHart9...art_99dec4.html
Guest BobbyBacklund Report post Posted August 8, 2002 I'm really not in a "wrestling closet" so to speak, as I really don't feel ashamed about it. What else I don't feel ashamed about is my reaction to that article. It really warms my heart when reading it, especially considering the current relationship that both guys have with Vince. I would like to think that people will get off of Bret's caseas far as being bitter is concerned, if they were to read this anyway. Great article...
Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Bret Hart (in the Slam article) said that they wrestled in Europe after Wrestlemania when Austin was still in his Ringmaster days, and Bret said that Austin was the best active wrestler in the WWF at that time. I heard a story that Bret and Austin both wanted to work a program with each other since they cliqued very well in the ring and on the mic. I think that pretty much shows in their matches and interactions circa 1996-97. In the buildup to the Survivor Series match, Bret calls Austin "A Machine, and the best wrestler in the WWF". In his Slam article, Bret also says that Michaels was great, but Austin was FAR better because he wrestled a more realistic and mat-type style. I would guess their relationship is pretty good, but they're probably not best friends.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Its more about respect they have for each other more then anything else. For those who forgot Austin = a great wrestler (ok not GREAT but close to it) before the neck injury. Hell, he carried SAVIO VEGA to several good matches. (And Savio was not that good to begin with)
