Guest LesnarLunatic Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Go figure.. he doesn't even watch it all. Way to review stuff! --------------------- SUMMARY / COMMENTARY: If Scriptural references appear, the full text appears at the end of the Summary / Commentary likely using a mix of KJV and NIV. WWE RAW LIVE WRESTLING - TNN (NR) -- ...mathematically equivalent in magnitude to R-rated movie programming. This is the first application of the CAP analysis model to professional wrestling. If a database of wrestling analyses is to be built, it is clear we will have to develop a faster means of annotating the findings. The scoring shown is most assuredly higher than it should be. Also, the program was apparently two hours but I had to stop after one hour and five minutes, which equated to 55 minutes of wrestling. Fifty-five is approximate due to the sporadic interspersion of commercials with programming. Accurate time-keeping was not possible without a second investigator timing it all with a stop watch. Any behavior or action taken on the part of the practitioners which would earn a point loss in regular feature entertainment in movies caused the same in wrestling. Any violence such as strikes/beatings with the hand/fist/arm or chairs/tables/trash cans, any kicks, any "bombs" or any other action not acceptable of your kids in the classroom or in routine life were counted as violent acts. The WWE Raw Live wrestling episode broadcast on TNN on Monday, July 29, 2002 beginning at 8:00 PM was assuredly equivalent to R-rated movies. Each individual act of violence may not have been as severe as much of the violence in movies, but the sheer number of them drove the scoring through the floor. WWE Raw Live of July 29, 2002 presented violence at the rate of 204 examples per hour (187 in the 55 minutes of the analysis) [Prov. 3:31-32]. It also presented sexual imagery at the rate of 22.9 per hour [James 1:12 - 15]. Foul language was 25.1 per hour [Prov. 17:20, Col. 3:8]. The listing in the Findings/Scoring section and the CAP Thermometers will reveal this more clearly. The July 29, 2002 episode of WWE Raw Live wrestling was mathematically equivalent in magnitude to R-rated movie programming. Clearly. A CAP ID figure of 4.33 corroborates this finding. A CAP ID score of zero is best while most R-rated movies earn CAP ID scores of 1.3 to 2.0 with 3.0 as the extreme. ------------ Wanton Violence/Crime (W): wrestling/fighting violence, many threats between participants Impudence/Hate (I)(1): 20 uses of the three/four letter word vocabulary, mostly by one of the announcers arrogance punk dress "It's only cheating of you get caught." Sex/Homosexuality (S): vulgar pelvic thrusts crotch kicks sexual imagery, women as toys anatomical reference vulgar gesture sex advertisement sexual sign camera angle to force viewer on private parts Drugs/Alcohol (D): booze in the audience Offense to God (O)(2): four uses of God's name in vain without the four letter expletive display of the mano cornuto , twice Murder/Suicide (M)(3): none noted ------ Idiot. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 7, 2002 You know...with all of that stuff in the show... you'd figure it would have been more entertaining.
Guest jester Report post Posted August 7, 2002 I love the Capalert guy. Read his reviews of Dogma and South Park. Especially South Park.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Booze in the audience? Give me a fucking break. Where were the vulgur pelvic thrusts? The only thing I can think of is Mini-Dust and to take that at all seriously would be one of the biggest farces I have ever seen. Thank god we don't have any murder/suicide references though, because anything exposing that to impressionable children would be awful. *changes channel to news* Lead story five different murders in the last 24 hours. Guest chirs3 Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Considering it's a wrestling show, I don't think "wrestling/violence" should score against it. That's like scoring "implied drug abuse/murder/rape/assult" against Law and Order.
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Who/what in the hell is this? LOL....don't tell this guy counted each punch and move throughout the show! The analogy that chirs3 gave was just what I was thinking.
