Guest converge241 Report post Posted August 7, 2002 its been done before but i didnt see it archived so fire away: Austin @ WMX7. Vince really must have grapefruits if he thought he could turn Stone Cold IN TEXAS against the guy they were booing more anyway. (as an aside if your top face can get booed 2 years in a row in WM main events/headline matches.. he may be a better heel) Goldberg @ whatever the hell PPV it was. (i didnt order it). IT WILL CHANGE THE COURSE OF THE WRESTLING WAR! it sure did. that gurgle you hear is WCW last ounces of hopewater sinking down the drain. Sure he got heat for beeting up the guy with cancer but the crowds didnt want to boo him. At least the Austin turn had some kind of reason. Austin was obsessed with the title and would do anything to get it, and he had lost it. Goldberg didnt even get any fringe benefits from joining up with "the New Blood" Sting @ Fall Brawl He was a face , for all intents and purposes, his whole career (yes I know about UWF/Mid - South and his early appearances in NWA). Why ruin that if again, there is no good motivation behind it. He was a face again by the night after Halloween Havoc (where they also screwed up returning the title to Goldberg). HHH the night after WMX7 He was al set to be a de facto face and have the feud with Austin, and I think could have been a better face than when he returned after the quad. I mean I know he got those 3 weeks of pops for being back but then it faded. People were much more behind him during this time and mid 00...and they werent supposed to be! No, we get the 2 man powertrip that was supposed to build up all those new babyfaces.....like Undertaker and Kane. Thats much better than rematches of the classic No Way Out encounter.. thanks! Austin at Invasion. Another one a lot of people (like us) saw coming. Its such a bad idea to return the rug after a bad idea, and then pull it right out again. People were excited about having "their Stone Cold" back. And the charcter wouldnt be stale anymore, because he had all these fresh new potential opponents to work with and fighting off the evil WCW that cast him aside. And his make believe face turn was done so perfectly. He makes the save at the last possible minute on Raw (a la one of the best markout moments ever: the glass breaking right before Taker and Steph get married).. and it all gets thrown away. Hello one monster buyrate, goodbye long term business. a lot o' heels..let me think of a face Lex Luger on July 4th so hes obessed with himself and carries around a mirror but now he loves ...his country.? and must defend it by any means possible by taking a challenge to bodyslam an evil foreigner. I think Vince used up his "GET x FANS FREE" patriotism coupon with WM7 and people werent quite ready to redeem another. The Lex Express was a good idea in nature but he should have had more buildup even before thinking about that super $$$ push. And then to top it all off, it actually may have been salvaged. But, No, at Summerslam he wins by countout..*fans groan* *fans feel ripped off*.. and then its a celebration akin to the soldiers coming home from war and the famous life magazine cover. Great, a lead babyface who cant get the job done..AND hes an idiot! Where can we buy T-Shirts?
Guest Caliban Report post Posted August 7, 2002 Rikishi's heel turn. "I did it for the Rock!" Just awful.

Guest Strike Force! Report post Posted August 8, 2002 -Any post-1997 WWF heel turn. Rikishi's heel turn was just bad cuz nobody cared enough about him as a face, so it just didnt' work. Same goes for Austin. I can only speak for myself in that Austin's character became so soft and stale, that the heel turn wasn't effective for me. If they had built up the Austin heel turn by making him look gradually weaker and softer, it might have worked. As I've said in another post, I'm not a big fan of the quick, "shocking" heel turn. Having said that, I LOVED the Rock's heel turn at Survivor Series '98. Sting's heel turn in late in WCW's run was just awful. Not that it wasn't played out well; it was just a bad idea to turn him heel. He's too beloved by the fans, and just made an awful heel. -Some of you younger fans may not remember is when Honky Tonk Man wasn't feeling any love from the fans, so he had fans call in or something like that. I'm not sure what the details were, but fans voted that they didn't like him, so he turned heel and hired Jimmy Hart as his manager. I can't think of a bad face turn right now. If I can, I'll post it later.
Guest Crizag Report post Posted August 8, 2002 The Honky Tonk Man's begging for a "vote of confidence" was one of the funniest things ever. I still mark for Honky because he HATES Jerry Lawler so much its almost scary and it seems he tries on a weekly basis to destroy the King...family fueds are so entertaing... Guest papacita Report post Posted August 8, 2002 I loved the Austin heel turn for the simple reason that I had been waiting for it since mid-98. I hate Austin as a face. As for worst turns...Big Show's turn on the Undertaker to help Shane in mid-2000. Kane's turn on Taker for NO DAMN REASON AT ALL! HHH's heel turn in the "Who hit Austin" angle because there was no reason at all to turn him face. Tazz' face turn against the Alliance last year (BULL!) That's really all that I can think of. Guest Drury37 Report post Posted August 8, 2002 Not that either of these where the worst or the best turns of all time but they are up there with the best of them and Rick Martel was part of both of them. His heel turn at WWF WrestleMania V was pretty good heel turn( even though I have always been a fan of Strike Force, they were a little before I really go into wrestling but I still like that tag team)and then Rick Martel was part of one of the dumbest face turns in 1994 when he was teaming with Adam Bomb and he suddenly became a face,it was kind of odd to make him a face again. Thanks.
Guest Strike Force! Report post Posted August 8, 2002 Ohh...I don't remember Martel turning face. I remember them teasing a face turn in his feud with Shawn Michael, but I don't remember him ever really turning face. I'm probably wrong though.
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted August 8, 2002 The double turn at Survivor Series 88 kind of sucked. It seemed as if the fans still cheered the Powers of Pain even though like trained animals, they were supposed to cheer Demolition since they dumped Fuji. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 9, 2002 I thought it was Bomb who turned face, not Martel. I know Bomb was on Luger's team at Survivor Series 1994. It wasn't a shock turn either. Bomb & Martel had been having disagreements for months. They almost broke up at Survivor Series 1993, before IRS settled them down.
Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Worst Heel Turn: Rikishi revealed as the "hit and run" assailant of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Why Vince why? Also one of the worst dissapointments of that year. Austin came back and everyone was buzzing, waiting to see who ran over Austin. All of the suspects were in place, Rocky, Triple H, Undertaker, Billy Gunn (?), and even Shawn Michaels. Then, suddenly, "I did it, for da Rock". Terrible turn, terrible blowoff to a hot storyline. Worst Face Turn: Austin turning face the night after Survivor Series 2001. The night after a hot Survivor type match, Austin was pretty much the sole survivor of the Alliance. Instead of playing off of that, they turn him face against Angle and Vince, which begins another Austin/Vince pseudo-feud. Bad booking evident here as well. Guest Andy Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Worst face turn: Austin after Survivor Series '01. Worst heel turn: Flair joins nWo. ... and as someone who's been watching wrestling for a long time, the fact that both of these are recent says something about the current writing team. Thanks, Andy
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Didn't Bastion Booger turn face in early 1993. I think it started on a RAW where he teamed with Bam Bam and was making passes at Luna, pissing Bigelow off...then a few weeks later he fought Rick Martel and Martel was disgusted by him and sprayed him with Arrogance. Men On A Mission turning on the Smoking Gunns and their manager Oscar.

Guest Strike Force! Report post Posted August 9, 2002 If anyone can reference the Rick Martel face turn circa 1994, please inform us. I seriously don't remember it.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Yeah,I definitely thought Martel turned face in 1994 but now I'm not sure, if someone can find out if he did or did not turn face in 1994 it would be nice. Thanks.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Praise the lord you actually hit spacebar after a comma! God is real! Anywho, Sting at Fall Brawl 1999........(shudders) They cheered when he cheated. Hogan's "heel" run in WWF this year. Does anyone think he could'a been a good heel getting cheered? lol. Austin...what? I said Austin's. What?? I said Austin's at Invasion. what? Invasion. What? what? what?
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted August 9, 2002 How long ago was the thing with the space bar, about a month and a half ago,I thought that was behind us. Thanks.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted August 9, 2002 I was kidding around. I only mentioned it because you probably did it accidentally.
Guest Drury37 Report post Posted August 9, 2002 I knew you were joking around,I do it if I know that it won't fit on that line and if I don't space it out it would look dumb. Thanks.

Guest papacita Report post Posted August 11, 2002 I don't think Martel made a face turn in 94. I remember Adam Bomb's turn (although I can't remember exactly how it happened. I think it had something to do with Harvey Wippleman), but I'm almost positive Martel never went face until his WCW run.
