Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 It's almost time. Truth vs. Shamrock for the NWA Title Lo Ki vs. Jerry Lynn vs. AJ Styles for the NWA TNA X Title Flying Elvises vs. the SAT and The Amazing Red Jeff Jarrett vs. Apolo Those matches highlight the card. And there's other stuff... Don Harris vs. Malice First Blood Bruce vs. Taylor Vaughn for the Miss TNA title Disco Inferno and the Dupps. Let's hope they keep the bottom 3 short. Little over an hour left to go!
Guest The Superstar Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 wh00 my first show. This should rule.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 Well...I hope you and everyone else giving it a try for the first time tonight enjoys the show. The arena may take some getting used too...but they did a good job with production last week and the size wasn't really noticeable to me like it was the week before. So maybe that won't be an issue. IMO...TNA needs to hit one out of the park tonight. The 3 way X title match probably got some people to order who haven't since the 6 man in week 4...because the odds are favorable for an exciting match. They have some very good things in place tonight to make an entertaining show with some good matches. I'll be interested to hear your (and anyone else watching for the first time) reaction to the product, the wrestlers you are seeing for the first time...and all of that.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 Heading out of work in a few, just in time to order this week's show! Can you hear the fans chanting it... "We want The Truth...We want The Truth..." OK, maybe the fans won't be, but I will.
Guest Kingpk Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 It's good they have it on Wednesdays. Ain't nothing else on TV, at least UPN had Buffy reruns for a few weeks, but they stopped that,
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 Another plus in there column is that RAW sucked this week. The last 2 weeks RAW was great leading into what I thought were 2 pretty darn good TNA shows...that only hurts perception IMO. This weeks RAW was terrible...and there's alot to look forward to tonight.
Guest the pinjockey Posted August 7, 2002 Report Posted August 7, 2002 This weeks RAW was terrible...and there's alot to look forward to tonight. Between that and not planning on ordering Summerslam (Brock/Rock and HHH/HBK) is the only thing giving NWA another shot with me. I ordered the two off weeks for the promotion so I was almost done with it entirely with the WWF being decent. But between Raw and the SD spoilers I figured I need a little decent wrestling fix. This is THE last chance for them though.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 yeah...I'm still in love with Goldylocks.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Flying Elvises vs. SAT um...too fast to call. They do some spots...advance the Elvii troubles and then finally get it down to one on one. Which turns to 3 on 1 when Estrada and Yang go to the announce table. The SAT makes Siaki their bitch. Red's kicks are awesome. And they did some two and three man moves I've never seen before. Yang and Estrada return in time to save Siaki. Jimmy Yang rules. A great near fall off of the Code Red. Another one off of what they called the Lockdown. Double DDT off the top by Estrada on the Maximos. I would pay some good money right now to see Red vs. Yang one on one. Siaki scores the win after Estrada and Yang do the work.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Interview with Apolo. The interview makes sense storyline wise...as Apolo was named #1 contender then Truth was given a shot ahead of him. Despite a slight language barrier...Apolo got more character development in this short segment than he has...ever? This is better than just trotting him out there and saying look at that guy...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 mmmm...Goldylocks. Lynn and Styles explode again. I don't think they like each other. As far as backstage segments go...that was a good one. They advanced a few things in one short segment.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Steamboat comes out. The Dupps try to get at him and Steamboat tells them to go do whatever they want. That's going to end poorly. OMG!! TRUTH vs. SHAMROCK. and they gave a legitamite reason to have the match early (Ferrara said something about tv time constraints) and still have the mega X title match at the end.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Shamrock vs. Killings NWA title match Steamboat on commentary. Whether they like it or not..I get the feeling that Truth will be the face here. Yep...Truth chants a dead give away.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Shamrock tries to work the leg but Killings gets to the ropes. Big powerbomb out of the corner on Truth. Real nice powerslam on Truth. I don't know what happened on that rana...It looked like Killings was going to counter it...but Ken finished the move anyway. Anklelock put on but Truth reaches the ropes. Various TNA wrestlers are on the ramp watching...which is both distracting and adds a nice feel at the same time. The fourth Truth chant of the match...see...it's not just me...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Shamrock with an armbar continuing to ware down Killings. Shamrocks Sucks chant...man...The Truth did all that... They slug it out on the outside and the wrestlers run in...but its on the outside so the match continues. Steamboat throws the wrestlers out and puts the two legal men in the ring. KILLINGS WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I missed the ending cause I was typing...but who cares... KILLINGS WINSSSS!!!!!!!1
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Killings looks real emotional over it too. This moment is why I love wrestling.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Truth was the face in the match...so I would assume they will push him as a face from here on out. MAn...that fucking rules.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Tenay steals my stick about the meaning of Killings win. Remember...you heard it here first. Tenay also ignores the lineage prior to 1948 when the NWA was founded. That's ok though...he quickly hit the points that I did.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 The amount of Uncle Eric in this thread makes me wonder who besides BPS is watching it right now. =b
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 I'd like to mention that I think it was very classy to mention that Killings is the first black wrestler to win the title... but to do it AFTER he won. So him winning wasn't ABOUT his being black...it was ABOUT Ron Killings. Very classy IMO.
Guest LesnarLunatic Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 and I am watching this on scramblevision. Oh great.. reverse discrimination
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Steamboat grants Apolo a title shot... and JJ comes out and takes over Truth's racist angle. and says Steamboat only grants minorities title shots.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Steamboat makes JJ vs. Apolo for later for a title shot. Steamboat also says he's the ref.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 1) Apollo ran down, and everyone started fighting. Apollo went for a superkick to Truth, but Truth ducked and it barely hit Shamrock. Steamboat rolled Shamrock into the ring, and Truth hit a crappy diamondcutter for the pin. 2) Truth probably wont turn face. They are just in his hometown I think. And besides, would you cheer Shamrock over the Truth? It's probably a case of Taker-syndrome. He's a heel, but fans cheer him. ........ Yep....
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 Well...I don't know how many other people are watching... but the play by play is for those who aren't.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 The Dupps come out for Disco's segment. They add a hardcore division. Super. I think this might have HHH/HBK segment beat as lamest segment ever.
Guest LesnarLunatic Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 so.. who are the Dupps? I know they are Stan and Bo, but who are they really? how the hell can anybody score 10 points?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 I can't even call this. Russo at least used to be somewhat entertaining. This is not. Basically they beat the hell out of Ed Ferrara for reasons I cna't explain...even though it took them a long time to explain them
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 8, 2002 Report Posted August 8, 2002 This is the segment that never ends.
