Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted February 22, 2002 In the year 2000, HHH was on a tear. He retired Cactus Jack, defeated a myriad of opponents leading up to Mania (TAKA, Tazz, Benoit) Then WM happened and he shocked the world. He became the first heel to go over in the ME at mania. No one could believe it. A precedent had been set. A lot of people point to the way Cactus put Hunter over as the time when HHH was finally over as a drawing champion. I think what separated his reign from some of the other title runs in the past was his win at Mania. Jericho has become the first Undisputed Champion and has defeated the Rock and Stone Cold in high profile PPV title matches. If the wwf plans on putting the belt on HHH, I think it would be in their best interests to do it at Backlash. Jericho needs this more than HHH. The wwf needs this because they need a strong ME heel other than the nWo. I just hope that HHH and the writers remember what was done in 2000 and give Jericho 1 last BIG win. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 I agree 100% If HHH really cares about the business as much as he says he'll do the job at the ppv. Look at it this way: Jericho wins 2 WCW titles and the WWF title (unifying both of them) DAMN...he never won a title when HHH was there... When HHH was injured, Jericho got to the top. What kind of message does it send if HHH comes back and beats Jericho? We'll find out how much HHH "cares about the business" at WrestleMAnia
Guest Patorick Report post Posted February 22, 2002 There's an argument either way over whether or not the WWF should job HHH at Wrestlemania. I mean, it'd be great if Jericho won another high profile match against a top guy, but on the other hand the Wrestlemania tradition of the babyface winning the title comes into play. The smark inside me can't escape the fact the HHH put over the Undertaker last year and there has got to be some sort of "reward" pencilled in for HHH at Wrestlemania. So long as HHH lets Jericho kick out of a pedigree, I won't be complaining if HHH wins.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Why would HHH get a reward for putting over Taker. Don't make me bust out a list of people that HHH hasn't returned jobs too...CAN'T CONTAIN IT...AUSTIN...ROCK...JERICHO...BENOIT...FOLEY...MUST STOP... Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Yeah I agree completely with bps on this issue. And the face going over at Mania is irrelevant since Trips ended that streak at WM2000. Why even bother giving Jericho Stephanies if he can't retain the title. Unfortunately, I think this is a big swerve to turn trips back into a heel leaving Jericho in the dust. And where is it written in stone that Trips has to be the one to defeat Jericho. The Rock and austin aren't carrying the belts and they are the true SUPERSTARS. Trips doesn't deserve the belt by divine right.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Is anyone really accepting Triple H as a face anyway? Of course he gets the cheap heat because of the Stephanie Situation, but other than that, it seems he doesn't even draw a 3rd of the face heat that Austin/Rock/nWo is drawing. It would be nice for Jericho to go over at WM, but I don't see it happening unless, Stephanie McMahon is directly involved. As far as Jericho's ME status goes, I think it has been somewhat solidified in the past few months, and it seems like more and more people take his ME status seriously due to "big" wins. It really is up to the booking team. When they want someone over as a ME they will do what it takes. I mean hell, who would have thought the Blue Blood Hunter Hearst Helmsley(King of the Pig Pen match) would be a main event at WM? -Mike
Guest Tolwyn Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Aside from the fact HHH is much better as a heel I think it really serves no purpose to let HHH win the title at WM.Sure it would be nice to see him win but then what ? But now Jericho has aligned himself with Stephanie I don't think their WM match would be the blow off of their fued but it would be the beginning! And imho the only way to start their fued properly is to let Jericho win.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 I hope Jericho wins at WM. I'm not thrilled about the Jericho/Steph alliance, since Steph "found" another way to get into a high profile feud, but HHH doesn't need to win.
Guest RSK Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Jericho does need this win to Solidify himself as a top Heel in the company. then the next night HHH comes out and turns heel and Him Jericho and Steph go do some nasty things for a long time, none are seen again. No wait... Scrath that last part... HHH Loses to Jericho because of Nash's Interference, pulling HHH into the NWO Storyline so Him, Rock and Austin have a Story going against the NWO; Enter a returning Benoit as a Man out to HUnt down Jericho. and you have a Storline going there to. and two men that can make the Title Mean Something by swapping it a Few times on TV and how obsessed they are with winning that title form the other one. I'm not thrilled about the Jericho/Steph alliance, since Steph "found" another way to get into a high profile feud, but HHH doesn't need to win. I think the Jericho win might actually happen, and here's why: All over the mainstream media they're already talking about Rock vs. Hogan HEADLINING WM X-8, so if that happens, the Title match should be next to last, right? So Jericho retains, the fans are pissed (as much as Canadians can be pissed about Jericho retaining) and the last match Rock finally gets his big WM Main Event win against none other than Hulk (although I would have preferred Austin return the Job to Rock), and the fans leave home happy. Anybody agrees? And where would this leave Austin? Second to last? UT has been next to last for years now, now he'll be...mid-card?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 I don't know. On wwf's wrestleMania website, they have Jericho/Austin above Rock/Hogan on the match listing. If Jericho/HHH is last, HHH is winning If not, Jericho is winning. I also beleive that Rock/Hogan does not apply to the heel/face rule of main events. Guest Loss4Words Report post Posted February 22, 2002 They have GOT to let Jericho interrupt a Rock-Hogan segment doing his rage-style interview like he did on the Rock on Smackdown a little while back. "I AM IN THE MAIN EVENT! And all everyone talks about is YOU!" I can hear it now.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 22, 2002 The Rock should really be the one to take the title off of Jericho. I mean they have the most backstory and The Rock has been screwed more times against Jericho than anyone else. It would make all sense for Jericho to go around saying "Blah Blah Blah I beat Rock 7 times! Nobody else has done that!" and then the announcers can play up the fact that Jericho always beats The Rock and it's unlikely that things will change. Then BOOM Rock overcomes all the cheating and takes the titles. It's perfect. But when should it happen? SummerSlam?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Eh...I am indifferent to Rock title reigns.
Guest Tolwyn Report post Posted February 22, 2002 >>Then BOOM Rock overcomes all the cheating and takes the titles. It's perfect. But when should it happen? SummerSlam? Ahum...Remember Backlash 2001. Same idea. And if u want to do such storyline then let it be Austin.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Might I offer that the Man who beats Jericho whould NOT be HHH, Austin or Rock. Part of the transitional champion stigma is that the person is just holding it for one of the regulars (98 Rock to Austin) (99 HHH to Rock) ( 00 Angle to Rock) What they need to do is have Jericho lose it to someone new. (Benoit, Booker T...)

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 But he wasn't in my (Benoit, Booker T...) parenthesis. I think I'm right though...as always. WOW I'm getting cocky as I get near quadruple digits...even my quote is cocky.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Well, seeing as Kurt got soundly demoted and will never ever be in the main event again after Kane destroys his career, I'll be happy to see Jericho cemented.

Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 22, 2002 Angle should drop out of the WWF at the end of the year to go train for the Olympics. Jericho should keep the belt until Backlash.
