our set-up isn't much better, but i guess that's the sacrifice i make for great film. the video quality of 'chimes' was also really bad (which is par for the course on movies that obscure), & was really hard to watch for the first half hour. i remember watching a copy of 'personna' that was just god awful, half the time i couldn't even read the subtitles.

 

it did me good though and hardened me up to bad video quality. all these dvd-spoiled people who insist that the picture be perfect & the sound be crisp, they just don't know what they're missing.

Very true on the picture quality thing. I've been watching grainy 20-year-old 5th-generation wrestling tapes for so long that lazer-precise picture and sound are actually a distraction to me half the time.

 

But that college setup... gawd, it was so bad. Chairs that were too uncomfortable to sit in for any period of time, sound that you couldn't hear, screens that you couldn't see, and that's before VQ even became an issue. They could've made everything so much better with a few measly improvements like new headphones and roofs over the desks, it would've ran them $500 max, but no.
