Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 8, 2002 ...BLEW!! I'll expand on this once Raptor checks in with the reviews, but here's my ratings: Writing: 4/10 Art: 3/10 Cover: 5/10 Sketchbook/Pinups: 5/10 Overall (not an average): 4/10 Basically, the writing sucked, the art sucked, and the best thing about the book was the revelation that Ed McGuinness is drawing #1. I've never been the biggest fan of Jeff Campbell, but this is surprisingly bad. And I'm a little bit harsh on the writing, as it did do a decent job of introducing the Cats, but some of the personalities just don't seem right. If you read it, you'll know what I mean... Guest mesepher Report post Posted August 9, 2002 damn, I was looking forward to this too! I might pick it up just for sheer nostalgia though
Guest MaskedWombat Report post Posted August 9, 2002 the little i saw from wizard, the pencils were alright, the inks, were inks, but the coloring is lacking. it seemed like the colorist doesn't know how to make something glow. i also heard from a colorist, that the colorist for thundecat, called him up, and asked could you tell / teach me how to do glows. again this is hear say on my part, so believe it if you want. but i'll tell you this, at no time did i see a glow, it was more like it was airbrushed or smuged
Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 9, 2002 The funny part is that I didn't see too many problems with the colours, since a flat colour is more in tune with the look that I think Campbell was going for. FWIW, I think one of the UDON people did the colors.
Guest MaskedWombat Report post Posted August 11, 2002 i just read 0 and the colors are GREAT! and this isn't me speaking as a colorist. the coloring studio x. it isn't flat coloring, flat coloring has not rendering what so ever. what is the colors being done for mcguinness, which is the anime style, if you look as certain things that should be glowing, it doesn't have a glow, it have more like.... color over it
Guest Steviekick Report post Posted August 15, 2002 someone from UDON did color it. I think they get credited for it. For what it was, it was decent. It was just an issue to set up the story line, with Wily Kat being all jealous of Liono being in charge. The art was definitely bllah, but some of the pinups were raning from awesome to hideous. i'm not judging the series until I see the first real issue
