Guest bob_barron Report post Posted August 8, 2002 from http://www.liveaudiowrestling.com/wo/news/...lt.asp?aID=5532 Nilton Fernandes passes away by Dave Meltzer [email protected] It comes as a great shock to all of us on this web site to learn of the passing of Nilton Fernandes earlier today. Nilton Fernandes, who did the WWE television reviews for the site, died from internal bleeding in a freak accident while at work. Fernandes, who was one of the most astute, perceptive and funny writers we had come across, was only 22 years old. While at work, he was pinned in between two semi-trailers, one of which was backing up, causing broken ribs and internal bleeding and died in the hospital. A student at the University of Manitoba, Fernandes had followed wrestling from childhood and his understanding of booking, fan psychology and history was amazing for one of such young age. Wrestling was his passion and his knowledge of the business was international in scope. Funeral services are pending. I would personally like to thank Nilton Fernandes for all the work he had done over the past year on the web site.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted August 8, 2002 I'm not aware of who that is, but it still saddens me when anyone dies. I'm pro-life damnit, and anti-death! Hearing stuff like this makes me realize all the more just how fragile a human body is, and makes me wonder why more deaths don't take place. I mean, in all seriousness, with us being so sensitive it's almost like more people should die in accidents, etc... We are all lucky to be alive, and hearing something like this makes me think of something else... ...like I said, it makes me think of how lucky we are to even make it from day to day. :D

Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted August 8, 2002 This is very sad. I always used to go to Observer first thing Tuesday morning to read his take on Raw. My condolensces to his family.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted August 8, 2002 I agree, Nilton wrote great TV writeups. They were a bit short for my tastes, but they were still fun to read. This story is the top story on the Winnipeg Sun's website: http://www.canoe.ca/WinnipegNews/ws.ws-08-08-0004.html
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 8, 2002 Very sad news. Downhome. The reality is accidental deaths to take place everyday. It's only because Fernandes worked for the Observer that it's being brought up.
Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Wow, I just reading his Raw recap the other day and now, the guy's dead. It's pretty fucked up.
