Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted August 9, 2002 About 2 weeks ago something went wrong with my printer. Now every time I try to print something out it only prints on about 1/3 of the page. I have a Canon BJC-2000 which is about 1 ½ years old. I tried deleting the printer and completely reinstalling it, but that was no help. Has anyone had a similar problem? Is there some way to fix this or do I need a new computer?
Guest DrTom Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Get the latest print drivers from Canon's web site and install those. If that doesn't work, make sure your printhead isn't clogged. I think Canon's printhead is separate from the cartridge on that model, but you can buy a replacement. Of course, the printhead's probably $60 or so, which you could put to better use applying toward a newer, better printer. I've always loathed Canon printers, honestly. and I've found that HP and Lexmark make good inkjets. I bought a Lexmark home laser printer for $200 recently, so if you don't need color, that might be the way to go.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Many thanks, DrTom. Getting those new drivers worked. I thought I had already done that. I do agree that this is a crappy printer and am trying to get a new one, but the reason I have it is because I wanted a cheap color printer and this was the least expensive one in the book at work. I had the people at work order it and I thought that they'd have me pay them for it, but I guess they forgot or just didn't say anything to anyone in management, so I got it for free. I'd still much rather have a new one that is faster and more reliable.
