My Printer is Seriously Messed Up

Recommended Posts

Guest jimmy no nose

About 2 weeks ago something went wrong with my printer. Now every time I try to print something out it only prints on about 1/3 of the page. I have a Canon BJC-2000 which is about 1 ½ years old. I tried deleting the printer and completely reinstalling it, but that was no help. Has anyone had a similar problem? Is there some way to fix this or do I need a new computer?

Get the latest print drivers from Canon's web site and install those. If that doesn't work, make sure your printhead isn't clogged. I think Canon's printhead is separate from the cartridge on that model, but you can buy a replacement. Of course, the printhead's probably $60 or so, which you could put to better use applying toward a newer, better printer. I've always loathed Canon printers, honestly. and I've found that HP and Lexmark make good inkjets. I bought a Lexmark home laser printer for $200 recently, so if you don't need color, that might be the way to go.

Many thanks, DrTom. Getting those new drivers worked. I thought I had already done that. I do agree that this is a crappy printer and am trying to get a new one, but the reason I have it is because I wanted a cheap color printer and this was the least expensive one in the book at work. I had the people at work order it and I thought that they'd have me pay them for it, but I guess they forgot or just didn't say anything to anyone in management, so I got it for free. I'd still much rather have a new one that is faster and more reliable.
