In case anyone doesn't know the story. Bobby Bowden is using "Let's roll for F.S.U this season. It's a tribute to Todd Beamer who often used to catchphrase and was the last words heard on Flight 93. The family of Todd Beamer released a statement saying they felt honored that the saying was being used. The bottom line... the family doesn't have a proble, that's all that should matter.

Know on to the media. They seem to be the only group that cares. Certainly some people have a problem with it, but alot more don't than do. Even after the family's statement the media is still on their soapbox. Some arrogant writer from Tampa was on with Dan Patrick, and Patrick asked why Neil Young can do a song about Flight 93, and Bruce Springsteen can do an entire album about 9/11. The question is completley ignored. This once again shows that the media is completley out of the tocuh with what the majority of the people think, and more importantly what Todd Beamer's family think.

They said that they are using it as a tribute. Why does the media care at all? It's not a big deal.

Well, being a Miami fan, I hate Bowden on principle.

But from the sound clip I heard of Bowden explaining it, he didn't even mention Beamer's name (referred to him as the "guy on the airplane"), and further went on to say he can relate to what happened (because they lost a few football games?!).

It seems to me the "tribute to Beamer" spin he's putting on the decision seems after the fact just to save some face.

Bobby Bowden's a complete asshole...but he did explain why he wanted to use it (and he did mention Beamer's name) and, therefore, I have no problems with it.
