Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Okay, I've been away all week so I missed SD! so I just read the results. Did Kurt Angle lose two MORE matches on Smackdown? Did I read this wrong? So three weeks after a world title match he has lost to Mark Henry, Hulk Hogan, John Cena and Rey Misterio. Are they giving him Christian's incompetant boob gimmick? And now they will probably be feeding him to Rey at Summerslam? (Sure it should be a good match, but does ANYONE see Rey losing his first PPV match?) Did he DO something horribly wrong and I just missed it? Or am I just misinterpreting the results?
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted August 9, 2002 This is the WWE's idea of elevating new talent. Maybe next time we ask them, we should be more specific. New does not mean we've never seen them before, new means they aren't The Undertaker/The Rock/Triple H...
Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted August 9, 2002 It does suck to see Angle lose all these matches, especially after being in a match for the WWE Undisputed Title at Vengeance. Now, he'll more than likely have a match against Mysterio at SummerSlam, which will benefit Mysterio more than Angle. Unless Angle starts a fued with Lesnar for the WWE Undisputed Title after SummerSlam, he'll become a full time mid carder.
Guest LexLugerRules Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Maybe they can have Angle cheat to win, like pulling the tights, or putting his feet on the ropes. Put over Rey Mysterio as a legit contender and Angle keeping his heat. Or he can do what he did with Cena in Cena's debut.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Somehow I doubt it. They have Rey beating EVERYONE and Angle losing to EVERYONE. It would just KILL Rey to lose to a guy who can't beat Mark Henry
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Funny how Undertaker or HHH doesn't elevate new talent. I don't think a win over Jericho or Angle at this point really many anything after they've put over basically every new guy that has come in and they always lose their feuds. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Taker was trying earlier this year. He shouldn't have lost the world title to Jeff Hardy or Randy Orton, but he made them look pretty good.
Guest permagrinning Report post Posted August 9, 2002 you think it could be just maybe that angle is the guy best suited for making others look good? Watch his matches, he bounces and flops and flees like no one else. Of course they're going to put new talent in with him or people that need a push because he's always going to make them look like a million bucks. Only thing I can think of off the top of my head. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Of course that's why. But there is a way of putting people over without making the other guy look like a moron. And lately, Angle has been putting people over just so Brock can beat them the next week.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted August 9, 2002 they could have the Rey vs Angle match as a 2/3 pinfall, both could win 1 pinfall then have Angle "snap" on the 3rd and cheat to win.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Again, it comes back to Rey losing to a bumbling idiot who hasn't beaten a soul in a month.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Another thing I'm wondering is, if they've just gotta sacrifice Angle to elevate talent... Why the hell are they elevating a bad comedian (Cena) and someone who is already over and would do fine just putting on exciting matches (Rey)? If the WWE just has to pick a main eventer and job them out repeatedly to the rookies, wouldn't it be a good idea to find some worthwhile rookies to elevate? Guest Flyboy Report post Posted August 9, 2002 I would be happy if O'Haire was getting the push that Cena was, but at least they are trying to push new talents, so... eh.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 9, 2002 If Angle lost to Suck O'Haire, there would be a giant shoe shaped hole in my TV. Never liked him, never will. I don't see what all the hoopla is all about.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted August 9, 2002 It seems to me a little skewed that Angle (and before him, Jericho) are being used to put over the "rookies", while I can't even remember the last time Rikishi lost a match.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Taker was trying earlier this year. He shouldn't have lost the world title to Jeff Hardy or Randy Orton, but he made them look pretty good. Thank-You, bout time someone mentioned that... This has been the Taker Mark

Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Too bad they're not feuding w/ a tag team, though, since they are the *TAG CHAMPS*
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Taker did one hell of a job making Hardy look good. Problem is they're doing jack shit with Hardy, at the moment. And something tells me that when Taker/Unamericans is over, no one will come out looking good.

Guest Flyboy Report post Posted August 9, 2002 Taker did one hell of a job making Hardy look good. Sure did. And he made RVD look like pure gold in his #1 Contendership Match before Blacklash
Guest Brian Report post Posted August 10, 2002 I see alot of promise in O'Haire. He's an athletic, charasmatic big man with good speed and a great look. That can definately be worked on.

And something tells me that when Taker/Unamericans is over, no one will come out looking good. Am i the only one who thinks Jeff wasn't elevated by Taker at all? (he obviously wasn't as we had the Hardy Boyz renunion on RAW) Taker beat his ass every week, but he did raise his hand It was in a ladder match too, coz Hardy isnt on Taker's level in a normal match (as proved by the 3 minute squash match they had). Taker squashes Hardy pretty much the whole match, beats him, kills him after the match (just incase you didn't know who was superior) but then raises his hand. What a locker room leader, huh? He did, however, make RVD look his equal on several occasions. O' Haire is a decent young talent, but he definately needs a personality. If he's anywhere near as green as he was in WCW (which he shouldn't be) then they shouldn't bother.

Guest The Superstar Report post Posted August 10, 2002 Anglesault, it's not too late. Jump on the NWATNA bandwagon! They use the talented people right, and their "cruiserweight" (X) matches are actually good!

You're forgetting the three seperate occasions on which Jeff almost won, and that Jeff was up and asking for more after the match and a Last Ride. He came out of that mini-fued a hell of a lot better than when he went in.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 10, 2002 it can be match of the night, and i don't expect to end with a finisher. Rey will probably win by countering some super duper angle slam in a weird varition of a pin which i will mark out like a bitch... but i work sunday
