Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted August 10, 2002 Everytime I open up Internet Explorer now, in the status bar (the bar on the bottom), it always says "Detecting Proxy Settings..." with a white page. It does this for about 10-15 minutes before any site is actually opened. Usually, the "Detecting Proxy Settings..." message and blanck page occurs for 1 second and immediately, my home pag appears. While in the screen, I can't use IE at all. I know its an IE problem cuz all my other Internet programs work fine. I remember I got this problem before, but somehow it got fixed(I forget how). Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem?? Edit: Also, when I got into Internet Options>Connection>LAN Setting and make sure that "Use Automatic Configuration Script" is unchecked, the error goes away, however the box always get re-checked when I close IE. Guest MentallyNormal Report post Posted August 14, 2002 Microsoft Hmm Not sure if that really pertains to your problem. You could run the internet connection manager an do what they say to see if this works. Or If you haven't updated your browser Do so unless you don't wish too. I'm running IE6 an I have unchecked that option but it remembers it for me. Maybe you can go to Tools Internet Options Advanced Scroll Down to HTTP 1.1 settings an check or uncheck the one mentioning proxy connections. Don't know if that will help but it's worth a try.
