I vote the Macho Man, because he was a big reason that the title meant something in the midst of the Hulkamania era. His long ass reign showed that he was a prestigious Intercontinental Champion, and that the IC Title (other than the World Title) was a highly coveted belt in the WWF.

I vote Macho too since well Rock was good but also had the terrible Rocky Maiva reign and Bret lost to the Mountie

I voted for the Hitman because I have not seen any of Savage's IC run... besides on old PPV tapes... and I know a lot about Bret Hart's title runs... and he won the belt on the first PPV I ever saw. :)

Savage was like the HTM. He would usually lose non title matches but when he did defend it he'd either win by cheating, or by having his opponents distracted by Elizabeth (George Steele for one).

Savage was IC champ just to hold him off while Hogan was world champ.

Bret was IC champ as a stepping stone to the world title(year later).

I voted for Rocky because his second title reign DEFINED him. Anything from NOD until today was made because of that title reign. But he didn't have a bad first one.

A vote for Rocky from me. His second Intercontinental Championship reign was so great that it set him up for SuperStardom. Savage and Bret were *great* Champions, but they didn't seem to come out of their reigns as hot as The Rock did in '98.

WHA?! Bret & Savage both become two of the greatest champions in WWF history after having succesful title reigns as IC Champ (brets first IC title reign was better).

Yeah, Bret and Savage were great Champions, but I dunno. Once Rock lost at SummerSlam '98, you just felt that this is the guy you put the belt on as soon as you can. When Bret lost his at SummerSlam '92, it still seemed like Flair/Savage were more above Bret at that point.

Rocky losing the title to Trips MADE them.

Savage wasn't really world title contender until he LOST the title in the greatest WWF match ever.

Bret was still a midcarder when he lost the title. He didn't get world champ cred until 1994.

Savage/Steamboat was overrated. Probably *****, but not the best ever.

The 1992 Royal Rumble match. And something abotu the Flair/Savage match from WMVIII just amazes me.

Savage almost won the WWF Title from Hogan at Madison Square Garden, but the decision was overturned ala Benoit at Fully Loaded 2000.

Actually it was late 1993/early 1993, during the "If the right one (Flair) don't get you, the left one (Ramon) will" feud, but I agree that he was a midcarder when he lost the title. His second reign was better than his first though.

Savage/Steamboat was the greastest match of all time when it happened.
