Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted August 10, 2002 Hell no he didn't, Chono made him tap out to the STF. I'll edit this with the result of Takayama vs Nishimura. EDIT: Takayama beat Nishimura in their semi final match so the finals are Chono vs Takayama. The results of the finls is either a monster nostalgia push for Chono (ala Hogan winning the title in April) or the ultimate suck up to Misawa in hopes of Takayama getting the GHC in September. Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted August 10, 2002 This doesn't sound like Chono booking, unless he's planning ahead. In late 2001 Tenkoji were getting semi pushed as being Team 2000 rebels who were sick of being in Chono's shadow. Kojima left with Mutoh for AJPW and it had to get scrapped and reunite Tenzan and Chono. My only guess is that Chono is setting up an angle where he and Tenzan feud again over the fact that Tenzan is once again "in his shadow" and using his G-1 loss to Chono as a catalyst. Another thought is that they will lose the IWGP Tag Titles and then Tenzan blames him for the loss and turns on him. Don't take this as fact, its only speculation on my part. Chono KNOWS his best days are behind him now and it only makes sense for guys like Tenzan to get a shot to run with the ball.

New Japan needs someone (outside of Nagata) to lead the company in the ring, and Chono ain't the guy to do it.
