my video store has a shitload of old wcw tapes, & i'm thinking of getting some. thing is, the wcw boxes generally aren't very helpful. so if anybody can remember these shows and tell me which were the ones that had the great matches, or tell me where to go so that i can find out for myself (other than to scott keith), i'd appreciate it greatly.

Slamboree 96 has some Flair-Savage stuff but sucks.

98 has some classic Jericho

99 sucks

Both RW suck

Stampede 97 has Stevie Ray calling Hogan a nigga

GAB99 sucks

Both BATB suck

Havoc 98 has some good stuff and Hogan-Warrior II.

Havoc 99 is Russo riffic

WW397 is either the one with Flair v. Hennig or the one with Dragon v. Rey

Fall Brawl 98 is trash- watch Bulldog get hurt!

Superbrawl 8- well go to 411 and see my review. :-)

WW397 is either the one with Flair v. Hennig or the one with Dragon v. Rey

Dragon/Rey was 96. I was there with a front row seat. Too bad the Dragon/Rey match was in the ring farthest away from me. What did I get? Nick Patrick vs. Chris Jericho and a dissapointing Dean Malenko vs. Psicosis match <_<

I do remember seeing that WW3 mistake in the video store one time. Very odd...

WW395 and Starrcade 95 were released as WW396 and Starrcade 96.

Starrcade 96 was released as 97, 97 released as 98.

Very odd

Call me crazy but I liked Slamboree 99 the crowd seemed alive for most of the night and most of the matches seemed at least energetic because of that. I also like Slamboree 96 but that's cause for some odd reason I really like the Sting-Giant match <_<

1) Slamboree:

96 --- I can't stand this PPV, one of my least favorites ever. It mainly consists of tag team matches, consisting for the most part of guys not getting along, thus leaving the matches almost totally void of any true "tag team" work. Add to that, the fact that we have The Giant basicly squashing Sting, and it all works out to be horrid. The only good is Dean Malenko Vs. Brad Armstrong and Konnan Vs. Jushin Liger, but those two matches couldn't make up for the rest of the show in my opinion.

98 --- Fit Finlay Vs. Chris Benoit, Cruiserweight Battle Royal (consisting of Evan Courageous, Damien, Dean "Ciclope" Malenko, Dandy, El Grio, Juventud Guerrera, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Marty Jannetty, Billy Kidman, Lenny Lane, Psicosis, Super Calo, Johnny Swinger, and Villano IV), Dean Malenko Vs. Chris Jericho, Diamond Dallas Page Vs. Raven, Eddie Guerrero Vs. Ultimo Dragon, Bret Hart Vs. Randy Savage. Really now, how can one go wrong with all of that on the same card?

99 --- Raven and Saturn Vs. Rey Misterio Jr. and Billy Kidman Vs. Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit, Roddy Piper Vs. Ric Flair, and Sting Vs. Bill Goldberg is the only passable makings on this PPV. Well, unless of course I can give the PPV extra points for allowing me the pleasure to watch Gorgeous George run around a ring, heheheh. ;) ;) ;)

2) Road Wild:

98 --- Saturn Vs. Raven Vs. Chris Kanyon, Rey Misterio, Jr. Vs. Psicosis, and Juventud Guerrera Vs. Chris Jericho (with Dean Malenko as the Ref). That is about all the PPV is worth for. I do have to say that I personally enjoyed Public Enemy (Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge) Vs. Disco Inferno and Alex Wright, as it was a fun sight to behold, lol. This PPV as a whole isn't worth it, I mean really, it's topped off by Diamond Dallas Page and Jay Leno (joined by Kevin Eubanks) Vs. Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff!

99 --- The Filthy Animals (Rey Misterio Jr., Billy Kidman, and Eddie Guerrero) Vs. The Dead Pool (Vampiro and The Insane Clown Posse), Chris Benoit pinned Vs. Dallas Page, and Randy Savage Vs. Dennis Rodman were the highlights of this PPV for me. Yes, I said Savage/Rodman, if for no other reason than the fact that Savage actually carried him to a watchable spectable!

3) Spring Stampede:

97 --- Rey Misterio Jr. Vs. Ultimo Dragon, Akira Hokuto Vs. Madusa, Prince Iaukea Vs. Steven Regal, Dean Malenko Vs. Chris Benoit, and Diamond Dallas Page Vs. Randy Savage about does it for this one for me. Nothing too special here that I would go out of my way to get my hands on.

4) Great American Bash:

99 --- The Triad (Diamond Dallas Page and Kanyon) Vs. Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn, that's it. This is the only thing on this PPV that I enjoyed really, the rest was rubbish to me.

5) Bash at The Beach:

97 --- Chris Jericho Vs. Ultimo Dragon, Rick and Scott Steiner Vs. The Great Muta and Masa Chono, Juventud Guerrera, Hector Garza, and Lizmark, Jr. Vs. La Parka, & Psicosis, and Villano IV, Chris Benoit Vs. Kevin Sullivan, and Roddy Piper Vs. Ric Flair does it for me on this one. I enjoyed this show, it was pretty good.

99 --- The Triad (Diamond Dallas Page, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Kanyon) Vs. Saturn and Chris Benoit. Yes, this is the ONLY reason to even want to watch the show, and this certainly does not add up to enough to watch the show just for it, blah!

6) Halloween Havoc:

98 --- Chris Jericho Vs. Raven, Disco Inferno Vs. Juventud Guerrera, Billy Kidman Vs. Disco Inferno, Bret Hart Vs. Sting, and Bill Goldberg Vs. Diamond Dallas Page is it for this one. This PPV could have ended up being great, if not for a few matches on the card, one obviously being Hogan/Warrior. The highlight for me was Goldberg/DDD, as it is my personal opinion that this match proves that Goldberg is capable of a LOT more than we have usually seen from him. This match reminded me of something I'd see in NJPW or AJPW, and that's not a bad thing, it's a damn good thing!

99 --- Disco Inferno Vs. Lash Leroux, Eddie Guerrero Vs. Perry Saturn, Brad Armstrong Vs. Berlyn, and Bill Goldberg Vs. Sting rounds this one out for me. I marked like a bastard when Armstrong pinned Berlyn, so this PPV gets added points just because of that in my book, heheheh.

7) World War 3:

97 --- Perry Saturn Vs. Disco Inferno, Yuji Nagata Vs. Ultimo Dragon, Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Misterio Jr., and Curt Hennig Vs. Ric Flair does it for this PPV. This show didn't click with me really at all, but it has some good on it.

8) Fall brawl:

98 --- Juventud Guerrera Vs. Silver King, Dean Malenko Vs. Curt Hennig, and Wargames (consisting of Bret Hart, DDP, Hulk Hogan, Lex Luger, Kevin Nash, Roddy Piper, Stevie Ray, Sting, and Ultimate Warrior) do it for me on this one. The only reason I loved the Wargames match for, is purely because of the shock value for me personally, when DDP came out of it as the winner, lol.

9) Superbrawl VIII:

98 --- Booker T Vs. Saturn, Disco Inferno Vs. La Parka, Chris Jericho Vs. Juventud Guerrrera, and Diamond Dallas Page Vs. Chris Benoit is it for this one. I enjoyed Hogan/Sting on here at the time, and still do, but it's nothing to cry over if you never get to see it. Not too much on this one, but it was alright I suppose.

road wild 99: You can read my review of the show:HERE

great american bash 99: There is nothing worthwhile on this tape.

halloween havoc 98: Some good matches (Jericho-Raven, Goldberg-DDP). Just don't watch Hogan-Warrior.

I saw all of these shows when they came out, but none of them since really. I'll toss out a few blurbs.

Slamboree '96: This was mostly the ill concieved Battle Bowl idea. Guys were thrown together at random (rigged drawing of course) to make tag teams and the winning teams met up in a battle royale toward the end of the show. DDP won the whole thing which was the start of his initial push. Of the singles matches, Malenko vs. Brad Armstrong is a bit of a sleeper, the rest are ok. I'd skip this one.

Spring Stampede '97: I remember really marking out for Page vs. Savage at the time, but I don't think it has aged well. Benoit vs. Malenko and Dragon vs. Rey are both not as good as they could be. The rest is pretty much crap, especially Nash vs. Rick Steiner for the tag belts one on one. That is such a Russo idea. Skip this one too

Bash at the Beach '97: Great cruiserweight stuff to start. I always liked the Benoit vs. Sullivan feud. I don't think this is the match where they fight into the bathroom though, I remember that being on a Clash. Hall and Savage vs. DDP and Hennig is just a really weird combo and the match never gels. Flair vs. Piper is fun to watch. Hogan and Rodman vs. Luger and Giant just has insane heat to it and I thought they did a nice job of covering up Rodman's lack of skill for the most part. I'd go for this one.

World War 3 '97: I remember a lot of squashes and Hall going over in the World War 3 match just because he's Nash's buddy. Pass.

Slamboree '98: Finley vs. Benoit is awesome. The cruiserweight battle royale is a little overrated, but fun. Jericho vs. Malenko is decent. Bischoff runs down McMahon for not showing up for his special challenge match in a dead bit. I thought Hart just went to hell when he went to WCW, he and Savage work well, but I don't really like the match. I'd get this for the under card and an interesting looking upper card on paper.

Road Wild '98: The Public Enemy splash Disco Inferno through three stacked tables by coming off of a lighting pole. Get it for that alone. The Jay Leno and DDP vs. Hogan and Bischoff match is actually pretty funny and has good heat. Kevin Eubanks is sort of buff and does a decent Diamond Cutter. I'd pick it up as your last choice.

Halloween Havoc '98: Standard for WCW at the time, the under card is awesome, the upper card is crap. Warrior vs. Hogan has historical significance, I guess, and DDP vs. Goldberg is actually a little better than I thought they could do. I was always a huge Disco mark and he has two matches where he looks pretty good, one with Juvi and one with Kidman. Watching Fit Finlay kill Alex Wright also makes me smile. Get this one.

Fall Brawl '98: Bulldog gets his back screwed up and Buff bluffs a reinjured neck. Jericho fights a fake Goldberg in a funny bit. Malenko vs. Hennig is good. Saturn finally triumphs over Raven. The Wargames though is one I would mark the worst ever. Skip it for that alone.

Superbrawl '98: Booker T and Martel owns. Martel was so making an awesome comeback. I think he got injured shortly after this, don't remember exactly. Juvi gets unmasked by losing to Jericho in a decent match. Benoit and DDP have a solid match as the DDP push and Benoit being held down escalated. Sting beat Hogan for the belt in a way over booked match. But there is one match that makes this the first tape you buy--Disco vs. La Parka.

Slamboree '99: First math is Benoit and Malenko vs. Raven and Saturn vs. Mysterio and Kidman. That rocks about as much as you think it would. Rest of the show is pretty mediocre and is really soured by Nash putting himself over DDP for the title. You also have Gorgeous George vs. Charles Robinson on here as the strangest extension of the Savage vs. Flair feud one could think of.

Road Wild '99: An odd flip as the under card is bad and the upper is good. While you have the Insane Clown Posse and the West Texas Rednecks on the bottom, you have Benoit and DDP doing their usual solid match and better than you'd think Hogan vs. Nash and Sting vs. Sid matches up top. Savage vs. Rodman is a god awful brawl. The fight into a friggin' porta-pottie. I'd say pass really.

GAB '99: Saturn and Benoit vs. the Triad is the only thing this show has. Bagwell gets a push by partnering with Flair. Pass

Bash at the Beach '99: Same as above, plus the Junkyard invitational. If you don't know this "match," be happy. Pass.

Halloween Havoc '99: Too many promos. Disco beats Lash LeRoux. Yay!

Brad Armstrong beats Berlyn. Yay! DDP beats Flair. Yay! Hogan lays down for Sting, just so he doesn't have to job to Goldberg and Sting does it later. Boo! Some nice mark out moments would make this a pick up.

I guess I'm the only who liked Slamboree 99 :( , I thought it was a good show cause the announcers seemed really fuckin' excited even Bobby Heenan who wasn't excited at all during his last year in WCW he just told lame outdated jokes and hope they would be funny.(A sad shell of himself in WWF)

The part of that paragraph that I bolded was a gigantic typo right?
