Guest Incandenza Report post Posted August 13, 2002 The man's hatred for Ric Flair is no secret, so why did he go back to the WCW in 98/99?
Guest Frankie Williams Report post Posted August 13, 2002 Uh, my guess would be.....MONEY.

Guest KingOfOldSchool Report post Posted August 13, 2002 The only thing I've heard was that in his early '90s WCW stint, Douglas met Flair and Flair basically acted like a dick towards him. Take that for what it's worth... I believe the above statement is simply a summarized version of what Douglas himself has commented on.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted August 13, 2002 I assumed money would be a driving factor, but given the number of times Douglas has said in no uncertain terms that he would NOT work for Vince McMahon again, I had to wonder why he went back to WCW, where Flair was at. I guess one bounced check too many makes you want to rebuild that particular burnt bridge.

It is true that Douglas said this but before left ECW and signed with WCW he was actually in talks with the WWF. So basically, Douglas shoots his mouth off but when it comes down to it he'll signed with who ever gives him the most cash. Not that I wouldn't do that but it just goes to show that Douglas is full of shit.
Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted August 13, 2002 Why does he even hate Flair? Shane Douglas hates everybody. I'm serious, have you ever heard him say anything nice about anybody. I sure haven't. I love that he said he'd work for TNA if they got rid of Francine, and they told him to go fuck himself.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted August 13, 2002 What I like about Shane Douglas is that he's one of the few heels who doesn't mind being hated. None of this tweener crap like is so common, and none of this "cool heel" juxtaposition, but just a straight up old-school heel.

He is a great old school heel right up there with the great ones. But the person Shane Douglas is a bitter prick who will never give anyone else credit. None of this tweener crap like is so common, and none of this "cool heel" juxtaposition, but just a straight up old-school heel. Damn skippy. Douglas has long been a favorite of mine, dating back to his babyface days. I think that he's great on the mic, and while some complain that his ECW promos only worked because of his "cuss jobs", I think he gets his point across no matter what format he's allowed to speak in. The cutting edge style of ECW only intensified his promos because he was allowed to get away with so much. He never words his promos so that he comes off as "hip" or "cool". He gives it straight and to the point, not caring if the fans like him, because that's not what he wants. He's a heel who wants to be a heel. Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Triple H, etc., take note. Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted August 13, 2002 I'd just like to say that, from what I've seen, Shane Douglas is one of the worst wrestlers to ever hold a major world title. I've seen one good performence from him, in the TV Title 4-way elimination match on 'Path Of Destruction', but apart from that... oh dear. His promos are quite good, at times, but his voice is just really, really annoying, which doesn't help my liking for him.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted August 13, 2002 Actually, I think the voice adds to his promo. He's got that gruff, frustrated, yet confident sounding voice that gets his "dick heel" persona over that much better.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted August 13, 2002 Yeah what an asshole Flair is. Douglas went over Flair on their PPV feud even though his push and career went nowhere except into a feud with Rick Steiner in which he was stiffed and squashed. Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted August 14, 2002 Like I said, he's a prick. He just assumes that the higher up is trying to screw him. It doesn't matter what actually happens, he just likes to hate people above him
Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Question, why did he go back to WCW in 1999 if Nash and Hall (ie the Clique) were there, presumably he hated them more than Vince
Guest Bloodice Report post Posted August 17, 2002 The deal with Shane was in the mid 90's when he was teaming with Ricky Steamboat the brass wanted to really push him but Flair who was one of the head bookers at the time vetoed it and did everything in his power to hold him down and flair of course got his way. ECW checks etc you all know the deal there and in the wwf(e) WCW planned on really pushing the guy but then injurys came along and of course money was a key factor. I"m just glad that he's one of the head writers in XPW now
