Fuck Bubba Dudley

So I'll play the middle - Bubba is one of the best workers in his particular niche (brawling/hardcore/highspot), but I certainly don't think he's really worthy of upper midcard exposure unless he's putting over somebody...which hasn't been happening a lot (barring the freak Jericho win).

Just to point out...brawling/hardcore/highspot is the current WWE style and it's a formula that has worked for the last several years. Yes, submission style is on it's way here, but that in no way should demerit the values of the current style, which Bubba knows how to work.

I do, however, think he is worthy of being in the upper card, but also believe as you do, that he needs to be putting over better workers first. I've never said he is the best, bar none, just that he is one of the best. Yes, he is my favorite wrestler, but that doesn't make me irrationally blind to the fact that he should not be a main eventer or an upper midcarder who gets consistant wins.

And, just to interject, there is a PPV singles match for Bubba...and a main event, no less:

Taz v. Bubba Ray Dudley

ECW World Championship Match

Hardcore Heaven '99

INCREDIBLE tag team matches, which include:

Wrestlemania X-8, Four Corners Elimation match

It seems me and you have a different opinion of what "INDREDIBLE" is.

That match isn't given nearly enough credit, IMO. People rag on it because the APA was in it. Another example of the herd mentality around here. People can't think for themselves.

Bubba is tolerable in a tag team, but watching him take on the one man act is just sad...but at least he stopped dancing

Never seen that one, so I can't comment on it's quality.

its crap.

Bubba started had many singles matches in ECW, non impressed me.

The WM X8 tag match was shit. I am thinking for myself, when i say that too.

3 years ago, mind you. The Rock sucked 3 years ago.

Sure you were.

The Rock didn't suck in 1999.

Sure you were.

Hmmm. So everyone who says a Bubba match sucks, isn't thinking for themselves?

Have you actually watched that match?

I dunno, Dutch, it could be argued that the Rock was at the height of his workrate and promo skills in late '99...but that's neither here nor there.

And yes, "impact" brawling has been the WWE Style for the last couple of years, but if you'll notice, there hasn't been a lot of upper-tier guys that practice it since the split. Benoit? Eddy? Angle? Jericho?

Bubba Ray is a very solid worker. Like someone said, he takes bumps well and executes his moves very well. No, he is not part of the top 10% of wrestlers in WWF. But neither is the Rock or HHH, for that matter.

Bubba Ray is doing well where he is. He could conceivably have the IC belt but that is it.

And I miss him dancing. That was funny.

And Bubba Ray is sexy, too.

bb, dancing people get really old really fast, and whats sadder is when people get stuck in their dancing gimmicks like Rikishi

To Rambling Dunderhead:

Christ, you're arguing semantics now.

The Rock didn't suck in 1999.

Okay, so I got the years wrong. Whatever. The point is, even the Rock sucked just as short as a few years ago, but has improved greatly since then. Therefore, Bubba can have improved as well.

Hmmm. So everyone who says a Bubba match sucks, isn't thinking for themselves?

Have you actually watched that match?

I didn't say that. Please, learn to read.

Yes, I've watched that match. Did you miss me mentioning a particular point in the match earlier in this thread? Again, READ.

Covered that.

Just because it isn't practiced as often doesn't mean its merits no longer exist. I happen to like the submission style more, but sometimes a good solid ass kicking has to be handed out.

I'd put him in the top 15%, and definitely better than HHH.

Yep.

The dancing is a nice little gag during the match that is just as ridiculous as the People's Elbow, so I let it slide.

And Bubba Ray is sexy, too.

Ew.

You said "Sure you did", in a sarcastic manner. That suggested that i hadn't made up my own mind, and i had.

When i said "have you actually watched the match" it was a joke, dickhead.

Seriously if you think that was an "INCREDIBLE" tag match, you would cream yourself over some of the AJPW matches.

If you think Bubba is "one of the best workers in WWE" and that WM X8 match was "INCREDIBLE" then watching some AJPW might not be a bad idea.

I watched the X-8 tag match and it sucked. JR and King sounded bored out of their minds just like I was.

But apparently since everyone else thought it was shit then I'm just going along with the crowd.

Guest BionicRedneck

Yeah, i'm just going along with the crowd too.

In reality it was an "INCREDIBLE" tag match

Bionic- remember when the Dudleyz and the Hardyz fought for like 8 days with nothing happening.

And then Jeff took his shirt off looking like an AIDs patient.

I agree with what King said pre-match- the best team was Stacy's legs

Bubba isn't that bad, but he isn't that great either.

hehe,

I am re-watching the match now.

DUDs and Hardyz acts are soooo fucking stale, Billy and Chuck just plain suck, and the APA are...well...the APA.

Saliva suck too.

seriously this is a utter crap match. I think Mr.Dutchman should watch this again.

Guest bob_barron

I liked Saliva, I liked Stacy dancing and that's about it.

I didn't like B-n-C that much until Rico came along

OK.

Just finished Watching the epic Tag Team Championship match:Billy Gunn & Chuck Palumbo Vs The Acolytes Vs Matt & Jeff Hardy Vs Bubba & D-Von Dudley in its complete form (13:50)

After being informed that this was a "INCREDIBLE" match, i have since come to the conclusion that describing the match as "INCREDIBLE" would be very silly indeed, and i would rate the match 1/2* at best.

what would you rate it bob?

Yes, because a comparison between a WWE 4-way tag match and AJPW tag matches makes perfect sense. If he likes the WWE ME style, he might not even like the AJ style, which would make watching AJPW a bad idea.

His only major PPV match that he's had since the split was a tag team match.  How the hell is he supposed to have a good singles match if they only put him in tag team matches?

He is a tag team wrestler. Thats what he is good at. Either that or getting hit in the head with things. Name me one very good Bubba Ray singles match.

I seem to recall a Taz-Bubba Ray Dudley match main eventing an ECW PPV and it being damn good, almost **** quality.

A huge problem right now is that there is no heel commentator to give the heels the props they deserve. Back in the day you had Jesse Ventura and Bobby Heenan backing them. These days you have tweeners like Tazz and Jerry Lawler out there and we all know Lawler only cares about puppies.

I just meant that maybe that maybe watching some of those matches might put the "INCREDIBLE" mania match into perspective.
