Guest the pinjockey Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I like the APA as a team because they only wrestled about once a month and the rest of the time was pretty entertaining backstage segments. As for Bubba Ray I think he is a decent worker, with the right person he can have good matches. I think he could be IC level once they knock the belt down a peg after a Benoit/RVD feud. They always tease making the IC belt important then turn around and make it less important again.
Guest WukenBloodstar Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Bubba IC Champ? Hell no, that'd mean he is the second best wrestler in the company. World Champion is the best wrestler(belt wise..) IC is second. So..why in the hell would you wanna lower the IC Title? Hire back Chyna and give her the IC belt, be the same fucking thing if Bubba ever won the IC title.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 You also have to take into account that test has no real reason to be on TV at all. He's not a good wrestler, he has no heat, he has no charisma, he has no mic skills. Yet he still manages to show up on TV every week, be a member of a stable where the other two guys carry the whole work load, and get a clean pin on the Undertaker, something Rock, Angle and even HHH are yet to di.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 He also RARELY ends the night ofr the match looking bad. remember the night he lost to Cena? He beat both Cena and Rey down. He also lost on a fluke.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I agree, he always seems to come off looking strong.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Test and Triple H are the most protected men on the roster. I wouldn't call getting pinned by Jericho being "protected". Bubba's been primarily in tag matches (mixed & regular) lately, and every time they've lost, Bubba never does the job. And right after Bubba tapped on Monday, JR had to get in "He's still Bubba Tough!"
Guest Goodear Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Bubba knows several moves that he doesn't bust out in WWE rings, just like everyone else on the roster. He's proficent at a variety of powerbombs, has a swank belly-to-back suplex, a elevated ace crusher, and has even busted out a planca on occasion. He bumps perfectly well and has a wonderful grasp of tag team psychology where he's active in the match even while standing on the apron. The problems from Bubba stem from a pretty horrible finisher and the overuse of missing the middle rope senton to transition from offence to defense.
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Bubba knows several moves that he doesn't bust out in WWE rings, just like everyone else on the roster. Indeed. How many times have you seen Chris Benoit kill someone with the Dragon Suplex on regular TV? Or how many times has Chris Jericho done the top rope frankensteiner on someone on free TV? If they have, I've missed it. The problems from Bubba stem from a pretty horrible finisher and the overuse of missing the middle rope senton to transition from offence to defense. I like the Ass-Driver, but it shouldn't be his finisher. His finisher should be a super powerbomb, the Bubba Cutter (it's not like DDP's going to complain, or a powerbomb variation. I'd like to see him hit that senton more often. As is, I've seen it connect twice out of 3,482 times.

Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Austin took that with his bad neck??? what a nut. I remember Jericho did it to Benoit.
Guest Goodear Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 I pimped this thread in my most recent column... but you're seeing it here anyway...
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 I Goodear. Everyone else horses.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 I pimped this thread in my most recent column... but you're seeing it here anyway... You disappointed me by leaving out the last line: Oh, and Spiff...your signature rules. Long live Calvin and Hobbes.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 I'll throw in my belated two cents. I don't have much of a problem with Bubba because of all the reasons Goodear suggested. The guy can work and has worth. He needs repackaging badly but you can say that for almost anyone in that protected mid-card stage. The name Bubba and Bubba tough coupled in with his backwards hat, glasses and dudleyz jersey makes him look like a total jobber, but he is somewhat over and he's not so bad. He put Brock over quite well and they had nice matches, and he tapped to Jericho. Protecting him against the likes of Big Show, Regal, Nowinski and others isn't a travesty.
Guest buffybeast Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 What exactly is "Bubba Tough" anyway?
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 What exactly is "Bubba Tough" anyway? Its a new kind of tough.."tough" does not describe him enough. He takes tough to a new level B)
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 *cannot believe the mentality of the Candian race*
Guest Angle-plex Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 And right after Bubba tapped on Monday, JR had to get in "He's still Bubba Tough!" What was he supposed to say, "Bubba's a pussy"?
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I agree. Its JRs job, but its also his job to put over Jericho's win.
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 You know, as much as I hate to admit it, that might just have been the best post in this thread.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 And right after Bubba tapped on Monday, JR had to get in "He's still Bubba Tough!" What was he supposed to say, "Bubba's a pussy"? Oh, I don't know, maybe PUT OVER JERICHO? Who's beginning a feud? (Jericho) Who's got a match at SS in a couple weeks? (Jericho) Who's been buried ever since he lost the title, and needs building up? (Jericho) Who just made someone submit to his finisher for the 1st time in forever? (Jericho) Who got put over by JR? (Bubba) He didn't have to put down Bubba, something to the effect of "What will Flair do if Jericho gets him in the WOJ at Summer Slam?" would have sufficed. But what does he do? No mention of Jericho or his feud w/ Flair, which should have been the entire point of the match.
Guest Angle-plex Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I guess I just got use to the announcers not putting Jericho over. This thread should really by called "Fuck JR" though, since it's not Bubba's fault Ross didn't say anything about Jericho.
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 *cannot believe the mentality of the Candian race* Its called sarcasm, shitface
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 This thread should really by called "Fuck JR" though, since it's not Bubba's fault Ross didn't say anything about Jericho. Well, umm, yeah. I kinda realized that after I had already started the thread. I'm still not a big fan of Bubba's, but my hatred should have been more directed at JR and/or WWE's handling of Bubba. Que sera sera. Or something.
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Oh boy...you misunderstood. I was worried about that. That's an in-joke among me and a small group of people. It wasn't intended to be an insult and, in fact, wasn't even directed at you. I apologize.
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 It okay...guess I over-reacted a bit. We cool?
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Of course! I've got no beef.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Of course! I've got no beef. Not quite the thing *I* would say to a female....
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Hmm...you're right. I have no problem. Beef, but no problem.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Yeah, you have beef... ...in your ASS~!
