Guest Maven's Eyebrows Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 they could go with this idea.. Hardcore title: Dreamer v. Raven v. Richards v. D'Lo v. Credible v. Bradshaw v. Stamboli v. Stasiak Falls count anywhere, anybody can pin anybody first person to score 3 pinfalls over 3 different people wins the match. Who the fuck is Stamboli?
Guest Chuck Woolery Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli. Teamed with Tony Mamaluke in WCW as Johnny the Bull.
Guest chirs3 Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Great idea, chirs3. They could officially begin their feud the night after Summerslam, with a violent, but straightforward match (like last night), with JR in complete uncomfortable mode. The week after, their match could shatter precedents for acceptable violence levels on cable. From there, they could continue to get more violent with each passing week, until the depths of their depravity induces Bischoff to demand a final blowoff at Unforgiven. Bischoff could say that they have been getting several threatening phone calls from the execs. at TNN, so the violence must come to a halt at PPV. At the PPV, they could compete in Stairway to Hell, "the most barbaric concept ever conceived by the WWF (well, that's what they would say). This would work on many levels and here's why: "The threatening phone calls" could give the WWF an iron-clad excuse to advance their product into a more submission-based, old-school format that good 'ol has been clamoring about in his Ross reports. This evolution in "sports entertainment" would alienate Dreamer, Raven, Stevie and most of the ECW wrestlers. Also, this would firmly entrench Dreamer and several other hardcore wrestlers (Stevie, Raven and perhaps Rhyno when he returns) as revolutionaries that threaten to put the WWF off of television due to excessive violence. The fans would of course love the hardcore tandem and this could eventually lead to them stepping over the line and destroying random wrestlers on several episodes of Raw and Smackdown. I'm not sure how they would blow this whole feud off, or if they would even try it, but it could lead to some compelling television nonetheless. What do you think? Wow. I didn't look anywhere near that far into it, but that's a really good way to go about it. Why the hell aren't you working for the WWE?
Guest Valcourt Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I was really looking forward to Dreamer vs. Richards last night. Richards is an awesome talent who can work the mic and the mat. Dreamer as some convincing offense and can bump around like a mad man. He also gives great physco interviews. Give these guys 10 mins at the ppv and see what they can do for the third time. Nothing but exciting VIOLENT matches can come from this! PUSH THEM!!!
Guest The Electrifyer Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Not having people run in was a step in the right direction and I'm all for Richards v. Dreamer but aren't both guys like hurt? Also, no-one ran into the Bradshaw/Dreamer Hardcore match last week too. Both these occurances just made me feel like the ending was kind of akward.
Guest CanadianHorseman Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Thanks for the kind words, chirs3. Actually, I hadn't really thought of a scenario for the Hardcore Division until I opened this thread. My brother and I (who is 24 and in grad. school) always think of storyline ideas while we're watching RAW. It wouldn't be that hard for WWE's creative braintrust to come up with semi-orginal ideas for every facet of the roster: all they have to be is somewhat literate and cognizant of beloved storylines in literature and film. Who would you rather borrow from, Vince Russo or Martin Scorsese? As for Dreamer and Richards' health status, I wasn't aware that Stevie was in poor condition. I'm sure everyone is aware of Tommy's various injuries (just watch the extra 30 minutes on the Beyond the Mat DVD), but does anyone know what exactly has afflicted Stevie?
Guest Rabbi_wilson13 Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 What if they have another particularly brutal hardcore match, and JR's flipping out and Bisch is smiling. He turns around, and there's Raven or Rhyno. "You think thats hardcore? Give me a shot next week." And all of a sudden more challenges are laid out, and the 24/7 rule gets abolished because Bisch wants the focus on his show and the championship matches. Then maybe have one of the top hardcore guys, after they get over, challenge one of the top guys to come into their world. They win the match, and it shows that Hardcore wrestling is just a whole other arena that some guys just can't hang in. And then you have your answer to Smackdown's cruiserweights. But if you want to get the title over more, you gotta get a new belt and abolish the 24/7. Big time.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I pretty much hated every Sabu match I've ever seen, Go watch 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Sabu from Cyberslam '96
