Guest HBK16 Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 I really want to get into it and see more. My favorites are: Chris Rock (over rated but one of the best) Jim Breuer (just the way he looks makes him funny) Dave Attell (My favorite show is Insomniac and his stand up is hilarious. Where can I find more of his?) The stand up comedy on Galavision on Tuesday nights (They are all rookies but they are gold mines) Martin Lawrence Eddy Murphy There are a few more than I like but those are my top three pics
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Are you limiting this to just living (and performing) comics? If not, either Richard Pryor or Sam Kinison.
Guest Still Fly Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Its all about RICHARD PROYOR (!!!) And I kinda like Robin Williams. Its weird seeing him cuss his mouth off, but he's actually funny.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Norm Macdonald- His latest stand up performance was hilarious
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 George F'n Carlin. No one comes close.
Guest DrTom Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Eddie Izzard owns everyone mentioned so far. Behind him, I'd probably go Rock and Carlin, in that order.
Guest Flyboy Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 David Chapelle. YES! YES! I'm not alone!
Guest Nevermortal Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Kevin James. Sweat the Small Stuff is the funniest comedy hour I've ever seen, with the exception of Dave Attell's "Comedy Central Presents".
Guest crandamaniac Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Eddie Izzard---First time I saw him, he blew me away. The man is so intelligent. Who else can go from talking about skiing in Aspen to Stonehenge? George Carlin---The man has some great views, and seriously would make a pretty interesting leader Chris Rock---Great comedian. Great when talking about Racial and Relationship issues Dave Chapelle--I haven't seen the man not be funny
Guest DrainYou42 Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Denis Leary Stephen Lynch Those are the only two I like that haven't been mentioned already.
Guest LexLugerRules Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Richard Pryor for sure, David Chapelle, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawerence, George Carlin, Dennis Leary, are all also funny.
Guest Rabbi_wilson13 Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Pryor, Williams and MacDonald all are very good. I don't like Jim Breur too much. His last one on Comedy Central was basically him yelling into the mike. You want golden? Mitch Hedberg. He looks like a stoner, long hair and tinted glasses. Classic stuff.
Guest godthedog Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 bill hicks is god. well, he was, till he died.
Guest Chuck Woolery Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Bah. Pablo Francesco owns all of these people. His Comedy Central Presents was pure gold. - Mike Van Siclen.
Guest CanadianChris Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Bill Cosby, Richard Pryor, George Carlin and Denis Leary are all excellent.
Guest NoCalMike Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Dave Atell Dave Chapelle Richard Pryor Andrew Dice Clay Robert Chimmel(sp?)
Guest starvenger Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I could give props to the more well known ones but I'd like to name some of the "lesser knowns"... - Roman Danylo, who does a great job both in standup and improv - John Wing. I can't explain this one. - Wendy Liebman, who is fairly well known, I think, but obviously not on the level of a Pryor or Rock - Kenny Robinson. He's the host of the morning show on the Flow in Toronto, and he's just hilarious. Never had the pleasure of seeing him live, though, only on one of those "Comedy Network presents" specials here in Canada. (edit) I suppose I shouldn't say "here in Canada", since I work in Texas now (yee-fucking-haw). But just you wait - Canada will soon become the only superpower in the world... ...hey, stop laughing. It could happen...
Guest jimmy no nose Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 You want golden? Mitch Hedberg. He looks like a stoner, long hair and tinted glasses. Classic stuff. Right on, my personal favorite right there. The way he talks is so great, but sometimes when he's not doing comedy he doesn't talk like that and other times he does. I don't know what's going on.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Nobody mentioned Steven Wright? What's wrong with you guys!??! My list: Carlin Dice Clay Murphy Dangerfield Wright Lawrence Leary Eddie Griffin was also pretty funny in his Voodoo Child special, doing an impression of a coked up Michael Jackson, among other things.
Guest Rock Candy Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 bill hicks is god. well, he was, till he died. And then Denis Leary started ripping him off. My favorite is George Carlin. I liked Bill Cosby as a kid, but I've lost some respect for him lately. -Ben
Guest cynicalprofit Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 Bill Hicks to do list 1. Come back to life 2. Kick Learys ass for getting famous off his stick 3. Be Jesus 4. Make world peace by giving out pounds and pounds of Shrooms Hicks is STILL right on. You can replace afganastan for the persian gulf war, britney spears for tiffany, etc. His shit is STILL on topic, years after he died. THAT is staying power.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 I know he's not a REAL standup comic, but I watched Henry Rollins' "Up for it" on Comedy Central the other day, and it was pretty funny. Not like the whole hour was roll-on-the-floor hilarious, but he had some good stories. Did anyone else watch the Henry Rollins special? I like Denis Leary, I've never heard of the guy that you say he is ripping off. I'm suprised that nobody has mentioned Lewis Black, as he is one of the funnier guys that I've had the privilege of watching. I agree with whoever said that Breuer's new special was lame. It was really lame. Nothing really laugh-out-loud funny. Kevin James' special was very good. He's a funny guy, now I can watch his show not only for his hot "wife" (Leah Remini) but for the comedy factor. I like Carlin, Pryor, Murphy, Steve Martin and Dave Attell. All funny guys. Wow, I really rambled there.
Guest Angle is Wrestling Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Richard Pryor Eddie Murphy Dave Chapelle George Carlin The Amazing Jonathan
Guest bob_barron Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Carlin was on HBO tonight- fucking hilarious
Guest meanmaisch Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 George Carlin Dave Chapelle Mitch Hedberg
