Austin said her Cookies sucked... It was well deserved spousal abuse.

Here is the main difference with all these guys: they might have been in trouble with the law but they also didn't just walk out on the job. Snuka was eventually cleared (?) and since he was in Vince's good graces he came back. Same with Patera, he did his time but he never pissed Vince off to the extent that he could never be hired again. Booker was a teen when he did his Wendy's heist, so he hadn't even wrestled at all.

Austin isn't very likely to come back. He's in trouble with the law and with his boss and that is a bad combo.

I'd love to see Austin try to use that in court. He could get his own Dream Team.

I can see Austin coming back, just not anytime soon. Maybe in 9-12 months. I was anticipating a return by Survivor Series, but with this story out, I don't think Vince wants this kind of heat, especially since he's still pissed at him. Vince can and will forgive Austin, it's just a matter of when.

Personal opinion and all, but this just SCREAMS "publicity stunt" all over it. Not condoning wifebeating or anything, but if they really had the goods to charge him, why wait two months? BUT, if they are serious about doing the right thing, then more power to them.

Didn't Newjack have a murder or manslaughter charge on him too?

It was Justifiable Homicide. He was a bounty hunter, that's to be expected.

To the person who pointed out that on top of legal matters, Austin also walked out of the company:

That is very true...

but Austin is a special case in another way too...

as in...No one ever drew more for Vince over a 5 year period than...

I believe Jack actually has 3 Justifiable Homicides.

And I'm really curious as to whether or not the alleged abuse was a one-time thing, or if it was a more constant thing.

Like, I can honestly see Austin snapping and going off on her. After all, the man had to be under a lot of stress, having just walked out on the WWF. I can easily picture Debra freaking on Steve for walking out on literally, millions of dollars, and Austin reacting violently.

Not that it excuses his behaviour, but I really would like to know which way it was.

Didn't he have four counts of justifiable homicide?

Stone Cold Steve Austin arrested

According to KMOL, the NBC TV affiliate in San Antonio, TX, Steve Williams (Austin) has been arrested on charges of spousal abuse. The charges stem from an alleged incident on June 15th. Mr. Williams has been released on his own recognizance.

At this time, World Wrestling Entertainment has no further information on this story. Steve Williams is currently not a member of the active roster. WWE wishes Steve and his wife Debra the best during this difficult time.

--WWE.Com

For some reason, I'm kind of surprised they said anything.

That doesn't explain why WWE.com mentioned it. He hasn't been a member of the active roster since he walked out. That's old news.

I think WWE want to estrange themselves from things like domestic violence. That's why they mentioned it. Business is in the shitter, they don't need to have a figurehead like Austin affiliated with the product. Plus WWE needs to hang on because Sports Illustrated and Real Sports on HBO are preparing to crucify pro wrestling about the steroid and drug use. Those sports expose shows are going to try to save baseball, with it's own steroid controversy, by attacking pro wrestling and using it as an example of steroid and drug abuse. I kind of went off topic there.

i imagine they just wanted to get the point across to everyone that he was not part of the roster, just so people who casually visit the site don't think that they have a wifebeater in the organization.

May not be to people who just found out about the story. I bet you anything that WWE.com was packed today with people check their site for news.

The WWE did the right thing and made sure everyone knows that Austin is no longer with the company.

Well, they already do. In fact, he's the champion right now.

Not his wife. It was a woman at a wedding reception. He mentions it in his book.

Hell WWF had Tyson on WWF tv so this little thing wouldn't stop them from bringing Austin back.

I have to look at this post and shake my head. Not neccesarilly for Austin's actions (I heard about that in June) but at some of the remarks being made here. Not jobbing to Brock leads to domestic abuse? A whole-hearted "fuck off" to whoever made that comment, and there were several.

What the man did to his wife doesn't mean he lived a horrible life, or that his accomplishments in wrestling are now made lesser because of this situation. I remember this board being full of people practically crying their eyes out over the death of Davey Boy Smith, talking about how great he was, the guy who inspired them when they were younger, and their all-time favorite wrestler; yet, if your listing guys who have beaten their wives, Davey's name appears on the list just like Steve's does. Hypocricy is a slow process, but I can smell the roots of it already.

Austin was a lot of things. The Anti-hero.The Rattle Snake. The Best. He was, bar none, one of the greatest wrestlers of this era, and no matter how much he's fucked up his life since, nothing can change that. It's my belief that everyone has evil inside them and that all it takes is the right trigger at the right time to bring it out. I don't want to pass judgement on Steve. I don't think what he did was right, but I don't want to call him a bad man either. I don't know him. As a performer, he was hard-working, dedicated, inspiring, and simply one-of-a-kind. No one can take that away from him.

Davey Boy Smith has never been convicted of beating his wife. In fact charges were dropped against him. Diana Hart has made many allegations but she also wrote a book that was so honest- they had to pull it from the shelves.

I'm not gonna join in the Fuck Austin parade (I did in June and now regret it) until he is convicted.

The Brock comment was my way of saying- Austin should've stayed in the WWE cause his life has gone to hell.
