Body by Joanie Chat...

Ok, tonight they had member's only chat with Joanie Laurer on the Body By Joanie site tonight. I happen to be a member, so I'll post a little summary for those of you that are interested. If not, oh well...I'm typing this from memory, so if anything's a little fuzzy or confusing, my bad:

-I pretty much wasted my one question asking about Lita and Debra. She didn't have much to say on them (perhaps due to the whole Austin situation. I dunno). They're still friends, although her schedule keeps her from speaking with them as much as she'd like to. More or less the same thing with Billy Gunn, although she elaborated more, saying that he's still one of her closest friends in a non-romantic sort of way.

-On HBK's return match, she was pretty high on Michaels, saying he's probably the best performer she's ever seen. She's looking forward to him being in action.

-On HHH and Steph: Believe's HHH is one of the best technical wrestlers in the biz, and is good for the WWE, although she lost respect for him due to the affair with Steph. She's not close to him at all, and hasn't spoken to him since leaving the WWF.

-On a WWE return: Never say never, but it's not likely right now, as she's very loyal to Inoki and New Japan.

-On Japan: This shouldn't be news to any of you, but it's a lot more physical than American wrestling, the wrestlers are "the real deal", and it's a lot more than just going on TV and spitting a few cuss words to get over. It's frustrating when it comes to storylines, as they had never been done before, and they're not totally sure how to implement them. She's been trained in a form of martial arts (I can't remember exactly which), and actually went over a Women's boxing champion in a shoot fight in Inoki's UFO (my memory's getting a little fuzzy here, so again, if that's not totally accurate, that's probably my fault). She plans on competing against men.

-Other comments: Has finished a 2nd book, but is having some trouble getting it published; She's shot a few pilots for some TV shows recently; She *loves* me......sorta. She said it, that's all that matters.

She said a bit more, but I'll stop here.

Yeah, but HHH has already been there, and you'll always know it. So, by proxy, he is holding you down.

Did she accept your marriage proposal?

Well...not really...but she *did* type my name...which I'm sure means that she's madly in love with me and plans on having 8 of my 46 kids.

2nd book? What the hell has this woman done to even warrant a another book, let alone the first one?

She said it's focusing on what she's been doing since she left the WWF, and it's more "motivational".

D'oh!

Or how about the fact that the WWF has no interest in her whatsoever. I wish her the best of luck though.

You love her so much, Papa, that I don't have the heart to do a full Dissection of Doom on this stuff. So I'll just hit this one paragraph:

"-On Japan: This shouldn't be news to any of you, but it's a lot more physical than American wrestling, the wrestlers are "the real deal", and it's a lot more than just going on TV and spitting a few cuss words to get over.

Then how do you explain Tiger Jeet Singh, who Joanie got into an "altercation" with at one show? Or even Masa Chono for that matter, who's basically Japan's version of Steve Austin.

It's frustrating when it comes to storylines, as they had never been done before, and they're not totally sure how to implement them.

Japanese federations have never used storylines before?! COUGHbullshitCOUGH.

She's been trained in a form of martial arts (I can't remember exactly which),

It's either Useless-Fu or Suck Kwon Do, judging by her embarassing showing at Celebrity Boxing.

and actually went over a Women's boxing champion in a shoot fight in Inoki's UFO (my memory's getting a little fuzzy here, so again, if that's not totally accurate, that's probably my fault).

No, you're correct. However, did she bother to mention that the fight was fixed?

She plans on competing against men.

"Joanie, here's your opponent for tonight, Shinya Hashimoto. Have fun."

Didn't everyone know that "shoot fight" was fixed? What did it last? 2 minutes? Everyone there knew that she would've had her ass handed to her in a real shoot fight.

I think she said it wasn't staged, but I don't know shit about puro so I dunno.

Edit: As to the Japanese feds never using storylines, I think she meant WWE style storylines, focusing more on the entertainment aspect of the biz. I read something a while back saying that they would be becoming more entertainment based, so maybe that's what she meant...but again, I don't know shit about puro, so...

Well, if she were just talking about New Japan, she's right, they haven't done WW(F)E-style storylines, but I'm not sure they're going to start doing them anytime soon, especially with Chono in power and Inoki still a factor. However, some of the Puro indies like Go Gundam or IWA-Japan have done stranger storylines than even the WWE ever has.
