Using Wrestling references in everyday life...

Recommended Posts

Guest Addy

Example:

When me and my bro play on Tekken Tag Tournament, when one of us gets beat and doesn't tag in the other guy we go:

"All you had to do was tag! My hand was there! But you had to try and do it all yourself. Your so selfish! And that's why Jun kicked your leg out of your leg!"

Also we call characters like Jack-2 hosses.

Get me? Anybody else do things like that or is that just me?

I say that I mark out for certain things all the time...

and once I did the Hardy gun pose while climbing a ladder...and Yodeling....

sometimes at work I'll say my boss turned on me for not giving me certain days off...but that one is rare...

Like Rando, I find myself using "mark" from time to time, but that's about it.

I used "oh TAG" a few times...but it went over everybody's head...

and the other day when I was feeling sick...my mother was like "do you want medicine?" and I was like: nah...I don't think I'll need anything unless I piss TANG..." and she was like "you ARE sick..." and we both kinda laughed...

I know I have used "Oh, TAG!" a few times as well, alas, it went over everyone's heads.

I find myself doing it occasionally. The funniest reference was one time back in like '99 or 2000, my mom was yelling at me for something, and I said "If you don't stop arguing, I'm gonna cut one hell of a promo on you..."

or something to that effect.

Russo must have been booking my vocabulary that day, lol.

I can't believe anyone would say Oh Tag out loud, especially after hearing Lita say it.

I use "mark out" every now and then. And I've started to refer to the dangers of tearing quads in everyday activities, considering HHH-uh and Nash tore them while walking. As in...

Them: "I think I need to replace the NIC in this PC."

Me: "Make sure you don't tear a quad."

I've also used "job" a few times, most recently when our agency's web site suffered a brief DDOS attack:

Them: "The site is down and the internet is slow."

Me: "Looks like our servers jobbed to a bunch of ping requests."

Strangely enough, even non-fans know what I mean.

I was at a party once, and we were watching a Lakers game, and I said "Shaq holds down Kobe", and everyone looked at me with a weird expression.

I use to use What also.

I use "Its true, It's true". "What?", and Smarkish "Victim of the Glass Ceiling". My favorite that I use all the times is "Thats 10 pounds of monkey crap in a 5 pound bag".

I've been known to say "marked out" about certain things. Also, whenever me and a friend tell jokes or stories, we always say we tried to "put over" the joke or story. Umm...whenever I am in a shitty mood or whatever, I say I've turned "heel". Thats about it. Yeah, real pathetic I know.

:D

I use...

"I'm so excited I might tear a quad"

"Oh, tag!"

I forgot about my "I was so excited I tore my quad (or ACL if I am at work, since my boss did that)"

or saying "What?" in a Mickey D's drivethru...on purpose...

I use many, seriously...

1) I don't get excited over something, I "mark out".

2) The Mets didn't loosed to the Braves, they jobbed to them.

3) I wonder when ------- will "get over" with the general public.

4) My friend didn't stab me in the back, he "turned heel".

...there are plenty more, and yes, I use this day to day. :D :D :D

I'm more than a wrestling fan, I'm obsessed!

A friend of mine who doesn't watch wrestling used the term "job" when talking about his less-than-glorious record in karate tournaments he's participated in, so there you go.

Where I work, there are a fair few wrestling fans, and we always use wrestling terms.

If two people don't like each other, they are fueding, if someone has been there a while in the same job, they are being held down, we threaten beatdowns, promos, ass-whuppings etc etc.

This is not made up, and the non-wrestling fans get confused when these terms are directed at them (which is often).

I've used "What?" recently, when I almost got my ass kicked.

I use the RVD thumb taunt a lot at work.

I've used the quad tear in various ways

Heel, face, held down, etc. I use a lot of them at work, but nobody watches wrestling, so they don't get it. I try to get them to watch, but it's no go.

Guest What?

One time, at a local skate spot, this rollerblader got in my shot (I was filming my friend, who landed the move [Nosegrind Nollie-heelflip out, for those that care]) so I told him to move. He then replied with "Shut up, Woodpusher" and started going off on me with his ghetto "fabolous"-ness, and he is white as ice (not like race matters to the story, but it was funny). Everytime he would nearly end a sentence, I would say "What?"

"Yo, you fuckin' woodpushers gotta knaw whassup at this sp..."

"What?"

"I said, you fuckin'..."

"What?"

"Look, you little fuc..."

"What?"

It was great...I drove him away...ha ha...

Also, I say that I "Mark out" for certain things CANADA like Mark Appleyard and Geoff Rowley CANADA

I always ALMOST say that I mark for stuff. I also often say things "Reak of awesomeness"

"Wow, this new Epson projector reaks of awesomeness. But I won't buy your printers, because I'm an HP mark."

Almost said that to our Epson rep. when he came to visit.

If a friend turns their back on me, I say that they've turned heel. I've also used the "Oh Tag" line a few times, and strangely enough, my sister knew what I meant, even though she's not a wrestling fan.

Well, in a backstage segment with Lita, Matt Hardy, and Regal... Matt had said something dumb to Regal to get under his skin. Lita (being a dumbass) thought the joke was hilarious, and slapped Matt on the shoulder and said, "Oh, TAG!" Both Regal and Matt looked at Lita like she was smoking or something.

There ya go.
