I just heard on the radio just now that the lead singer for Drowning Pool is dead. He died on the tour bus the band was on. I don't know the lead singer's name. Of course, they played "Bodies" in memory of the singer, in poor taste.

Straight from mtv.com where i barely saw it cause they just added it:Dave Williams, lead singer of Drowning Pool, was found dead on the band's tour bus Wednesday afternoon (August 14), according to a spokesperson for the group. He was 30 years old.

 

The Dallas quartet was on tour with Ozzfest when Williams' body was discovered. Ozzfest had played the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, on Tuesday.

 

A cause of death has yet to be determined. We will have more information on this story as it develops.

 

Bolstered by the hit single "Bodies," Drowning Pool's debut album, Sinner, has sold over 1.2 million copies to date since its release last June, according to SoundScan.

Never a big fan of theirs, but they did provide the best PPV Theme Song to date ("Tear Away"), and it sucks to see someone young and famous, however indifferent I am to him, go like that.

Everyone should take music seriously, cause ppl like britney spears, LOWER THE STANDARDS for the rest of us and provide, FALSE IMAGES for young girls, who then imitate them. I wanna puke blood when i see a 4 year old, 4 YEARS OLD, girl wearing something I swear I saw britney it. Your 4, you dont need a halter top or anything low cut, PERIOD. They send BAD messages to youthful and impresionable audiences. Drowning pool was just another korn wanna be who jumped on the band waggon, and while im not saying what the guy felt wasnt real pain, he could have found another way of expressing it other then sounding like 30 other bands.

 

PS the death was probably drug related, but thats just a theory.

He actually wasn't half bad as a singer, and his heart was in the right place (he listened to lots of death and thrash metal, or so I hear).

 

Why is it heartless to play "Bodies" in memory of Dave Williams, when Mr. Williams himself stated the song is about A MOSHPIT, and that his favorite thing at a show is to see people MOSHING?

I truley never was a fan of them, I did like their song "Bodies" tho. He was only 30...damn fucking hell. All I can say is may he Rest in Peace with the rest of the singers who have sadley passed away this year. He'll be truley missed by friends, family, and fans. I didn't care for the music a single bit (actually strongly disliked it) but it sucks to hear someone so young pass away.

The radio station that reported it said Dave Williams wasn't a known drug user. That is just speculation. He was also quite a large guy from what I've seen.

Well...you could pick a worse place to die than Manassas, Virginia. I lived there for a few years and it's quite nice. It'll forever be known as the site of both the Bobbit ordeal and now the passing of Drowning Pool's lead singer.

I wasn't what one would call a huge Drowning Pool fan, but I am saddened by this. Dave was one of those lead singers that busted his ass to try and impress a crowd, and that counts for a lot in my book, considering how many bands I've seen half ass it live. So what if the music wasn't genius: it doesn't always have to be. It was catchy and it was fun to sing a long to.

 

So for those of you out there who are going to do a victory dance, I kindly ask you to grow a heart, you ignorant jackass. Someone died- you don't have to feel bad or even feel sorry for them, but to take time out of your day to celebrate it is incredibly sick.

I met Drowning Pool last August and they were mad cool. I don't see what's wrong with praising someone who died. Sure if your a fucking nobody who cares.

NOT TRUE...I wasnt able to chose the radio station at work, so I had TO listen to it. And Bodies got played like 30 times an hour, uck.

 

The only reason he got succesful is because whatever label he was on decided they could make money on them so they got a "me" push if you will. Its not like they were ani difranco selling their albums out of car trunks.

 

And the WWF decided to play their song for their ppv....and since Hooters wasnt gonna allow me to switch the channel when it was on, another forced listen, even though i went to the bathroom when it was playing, i could still hear it.
