Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted August 14, 2002 I just heard on the radio just now that the lead singer for Drowning Pool is dead. He died on the tour bus the band was on. I don't know the lead singer's name. Of course, they played "Bodies" in memory of the singer, in poor taste.
Guest EricMM Report post Posted August 14, 2002 Oh dear. Well that sucks I guess. I just hope they don't go all Aaliyah on us. It wasn't as if I liked his music. But noone should ever die that young, and condolances to those who knew/liked him.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted August 14, 2002 Straight from Drowningpool.com: DROWNING POOL FRONTMAN DAVE WILLIAMS FOUND DEAD. Manassas, Virginia --- Drowning Pool singer Dave Williams was found dead on the band's tour bus this afternoon. The quartet from Dallas, Texas has been performing as one of the main stage attractions on Ozzfest. The cause of death has yet to be determined. That sucks. Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted August 14, 2002 HAPPY FUCKING DAY, NO MORE CRAPPY ROCK FROM DROWNING POOL. Although I did like that one song, fuck all the neu metal bands, that came out after 2000, the movement is dead people, make some new music. While I feel bad that a human had to die, theres about 6 billion more of us who need to go on living. And its also sad that rock had to lose a fat lead singer. (let the flame begin)
Guest Mark4steamboat Report post Posted August 14, 2002 Straight from mtv.com where i barely saw it cause they just added it:Dave Williams, lead singer of Drowning Pool, was found dead on the band's tour bus Wednesday afternoon (August 14), according to a spokesperson for the group. He was 30 years old. The Dallas quartet was on tour with Ozzfest when Williams' body was discovered. Ozzfest had played the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana, on Tuesday. A cause of death has yet to be determined. We will have more information on this story as it develops. Bolstered by the hit single "Bodies," Drowning Pool's debut album, Sinner, has sold over 1.2 million copies to date since its release last June, according to SoundScan. Guest chirs3 Report post Posted August 14, 2002 Never a big fan of theirs, but they did provide the best PPV Theme Song to date ("Tear Away"), and it sucks to see someone young and famous, however indifferent I am to him, go like that.
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted August 14, 2002 If im gonna have to spend money on something, I damn well petty enjoy it, music especially. Why is why buring rules, dont pay much for crap and easily tossed if i hate it. Everyone should take music seriously, cause ppl like britney spears, LOWER THE STANDARDS for the rest of us and provide, FALSE IMAGES for young girls, who then imitate them. I wanna puke blood when i see a 4 year old, 4 YEARS OLD, girl wearing something I swear I saw britney it. Your 4, you dont need a halter top or anything low cut, PERIOD. They send BAD messages to youthful and impresionable audiences. Drowning pool was just another korn wanna be who jumped on the band waggon, and while im not saying what the guy felt wasnt real pain, he could have found another way of expressing it other then sounding like 30 other bands. PS the death was probably drug related, but thats just a theory.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted August 14, 2002 He actually wasn't half bad as a singer, and his heart was in the right place (he listened to lots of death and thrash metal, or so I hear). Why is it heartless to play "Bodies" in memory of Dave Williams, when Mr. Williams himself stated the song is about A MOSHPIT, and that his favorite thing at a show is to see people MOSHING? RIP Dave Williamsey....Rock on with Layne and the others......

Guest Sebastian_the_Bastard Report post Posted August 14, 2002 I didn't care for the music a single bit (actually strongly disliked it) but it sucks to hear someone so young pass away. My condolences. -Sebastian
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted August 14, 2002 I am sorry to hear this I wasn't a huge fan of their music...but I wouldn't change the station if they were on. You just hate to hear stories like this about younger musicians just making it big

Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted August 14, 2002 The radio station that reported it said Dave Williams wasn't a known drug user. That is just speculation. He was also quite a large guy from what I've seen.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted August 14, 2002 Well...you could pick a worse place to die than Manassas, Virginia. I lived there for a few years and it's quite nice. It'll forever be known as the site of both the Bobbit ordeal and now the passing of Drowning Pool's lead singer. Oh, and that Civil War thing.
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted August 14, 2002 He wasnt a know user, that means he kept it quite. Smart man....thats if he died of drugs.
Guest whatitistoburn Report post Posted August 14, 2002 I wasn't what one would call a huge Drowning Pool fan, but I am saddened by this. Dave was one of those lead singers that busted his ass to try and impress a crowd, and that counts for a lot in my book, considering how many bands I've seen half ass it live. So what if the music wasn't genius: it doesn't always have to be. It was catchy and it was fun to sing a long to. So for those of you out there who are going to do a victory dance, I kindly ask you to grow a heart, you ignorant jackass. Someone died- you don't have to feel bad or even feel sorry for them, but to take time out of your day to celebrate it is incredibly sick. What goes around... Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 14, 2002 cynical shut up for a minute okay...you've been praising for some one who just died, and that is just wrong. My condolences go to the band, fans and family... theory of death: heart problems
Guest The Son of Sting Report post Posted August 14, 2002 I wasnt a fan but that is terrible news. A young guy just making it and now hes dead. My condolences to friends and family.
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted August 14, 2002 NO, because you ppl are all acting like this guy contributed somethign to society...HE DIDNT! He got his 15 mintues and you act like you know the guy or something saying how terrible and how tragic....fact, thousands of ppl who arent famous (ahem) DIE EVER FREAKING DAY...and I dont see you sending out condolences to them. Lets see, im currently, poor, no real job aspects, probably gonna have to move back home, and gonna be unemployed at the end of the month, and life can take what away from me again? Death means my art is worth more...watch me dance. When Hitler died, no america cried. Hell the Jews were freaking estatic. This is just like when owen died and certain website reports were all like "this is the hardest thing ive ever had to write" no it wasnt, you didnt even know the guy. Do i feel bad that another human had to die, yes, yes i do, i think its tragic that we as humans have figured out how to make weapons of mass destruction, but not make life longer. But Im not gonna be nice about situations like this when ppl come out of the wood works and say things about ppl they dont know. All Im saying is his music sucked, and im glad theres not gonna be anymore of it.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted August 14, 2002 wishing death is the worst thing anybody could say, and especially cheering for somebody's death. It just shows how damn ignorant you are. To us Dave might have not meant anything, but to a lot of people he did.
Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted August 14, 2002 And I believe he was a satanist or atleast SUPER antigod...so hes not getting to heaven. I never wished death, never said I hope he dies...i just said im glad the band is over cause that means no more music from them. When George Bush, and JR die, Ill be dancing in the streets with joy. Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted August 15, 2002 If you don't like what's being said, then get the fuck out of this folder you ignorant piece of shit. TRYING to compare HITLER to a fucking musician = DUMBASS SYNDROM I met Drowning Pool last August and they were mad cool. I don't see what's wrong with praising someone who died. Sure if your a fucking nobody who cares. NEws! So and So dies. Person: Who? Person #2: Like I give a shit. No ones asking you to like him or even pretend to like him, but if you want to flame someone check into NHB where other computer nerds who have nothing else to do but bash movies, music etc with their lives. And about you talking about being "poor", shake hands with 80% of the world while your at it. (Looks at pictures of India) I think the person i'm reffering to knows who they are. Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted August 15, 2002 NOT TRUE...I wasnt able to chose the radio station at work, so I had TO listen to it. And Bodies got played like 30 times an hour, uck. The only reason he got succesful is because whatever label he was on decided they could make money on them so they got a "me" push if you will. Its not like they were ani difranco selling their albums out of car trunks. And the WWF decided to play their song for their ppv....and since Hooters wasnt gonna allow me to switch the channel when it was on, another forced listen, even though i went to the bathroom when it was playing, i could still hear it. Yeah my life sucks, but atleast im not writing god awful music about it. And im not posting about getting laid on a wrestling board so I think im ok compared to that. Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted August 15, 2002 "And im not posting about getting laid on a wrestling board so I think im ok compared to that." Only point i agree on. Rule #1: Whoever brags about getting "laid" is either a.) full of shit b.) got laid by another man c.) with a fat ugly chick with a "great personailty" onto the poor issue... while your at it, why not bash Eminem (although Eminem OWNS so i wouldn't) because he writes about his life in his lyrics. Maybe you can be not poor and rip off of Vanilla Ice. (snickering)
