Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 ill say it again, DP sucked, but it still sucks to see anyone die, period
Guest mesepher Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 usually when the lead singer has left the band or died, the band usually goes bye bye to the unknown. Skynyrd went on after Ronny died... so did the Floyd after Syd was dropped from the band... AC/DC went on when Bon Scott died... Dream Theater has had a few singers too but... his death makes no difference to me. It does not effect me in anyway. the sad thing is. Mickey Houser from Widespread Panic dies and nothing is ever mentioned... yet when this guy dies... the whole world stops and feels bad. But then again, Mickey's musical talents will live on.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 I'll sum my feelings up this way. As a person, I never met him, from what i've read, he was a good guy. Sad to see him go in that respect. HOWEVER. I've been in bands that were better than Drowning Pool. They are the single worst of the worst in terms of the nu "metal" trend. I couldn't even finish the CD, I mean, it was THAT bad. Praise the man himself all you want, and I can agree or at least respect that without a hitch, but as a musician, the music he performed with his horrid band was garbage; absolute VOMIT. Vague, uninspired lyrics over simplistic beats anyone can do and riffs that can be played by anyone in a black t-shirt. I cite as an example: 1. Nothing wrong with me. 2. Nothing wrong with me. 3. Nothing wrong with me. BLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH! Let the bodies hit the floor Let the bodies hit the floor Let the bodies hit the FFFFFLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAARRGH! 1.Something's got to give. 2.Something's got to give 3.Something's got to give BBBBLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGHHH There's also an unremarkable bridge in that song which I've never bothered to transcribe or figure out or anything, but there's the bulk of their hit song. Two incomplete sentences and another sentence, none of which really MEAN anything. SO... I'm sad to hear a good guy with a lot of friends and family died young. I'm glad that Drowning Pool is finally going to run its course on the radio like a case of the green apple splatters.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Isn't it funny that everyone famous that dies was a great guy. Maybe this guy was, and I'm not glad he's dead. But it's just something that bugs me. Some people are jerks, especially famous people. They all aren't great people, would it be so bad if they told the truth about these people.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 First, it sucks to see someone die, my Grandmother recently passed away, so i'm not gonna drone one Secxond, DP were an ok band, the album is alright, it sux that they got pigeonhold by bodies, especially since theres much better stuff on it
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted August 17, 2002 Report Posted August 17, 2002 Secxond, DP were an ok band, the album is alright, it sux that they got pigeonhold by bodies, especially since theres much better stuff on it Dude, I think you need to listen to that Cd again, it's just one long wretched song.
Guest DrainYou42 Posted August 18, 2002 Report Posted August 18, 2002 It's never good to hear about anyone dying, especially after hearing about how nice of a guy he was. And as far as Drowning Pool being the worst band in the Nu-Metal genre, the whole genre sucks, so that's not saying much.
Guest Choken One Posted August 18, 2002 Report Posted August 18, 2002 Well, I just found out about Dave's Death. I've seen them in concert many times and They always worked hard to please the fans. I never heard a bad thing about him.... Drowning Pool wasn't anywhere near the most talented band but they didn't care, they wanted to enjoy life and for that I must respect that. It was just the other day, I listened to Tear Away and thought "If this guy put more focus on lyrics...he could be something" Alas, now He is dead and gone. Rest Peacefully wherever you are.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 Agent, in your opinion, the DP CD is crap. I enjoyed it, as it wasn't trying to be anything groundbreaking, it was just good thrash around music. They never claimed to be The fucking Beatles lyrically, but just a regular kind of heavy music.
