Works that you bought as legit...

I seriously bought HBK's blackout on Raw as legit. In fact, I believed it was a real for about 5 years...right up until I read in a Raw magazine that it was all a fake.

 

Same with his "knee injury" in 97. Although I had some doubts with him jumping up and down the stairs at the Slammys, I started to cry during his whole "Lost my smile" speech.

 

Anyway, what works (if any) did you buy as legit?

I was half fooled by the HBK black out angle too, but then i was a mark at that time. Lawler breaking character had me confused.

I totally bought HBK's collapse in 1995, that's what got me hooked up .

I also believed HBK's collapsing. I was 14 years old at the time(it was in 95, right?) and didn't have any kind of source for behind the scenes news like everyone does today though.

Me too. I thought it was real until I first read the RSPW FAQ in 1998. That's about it.

I thought Earthquake really killed Damien. On a related note, I marked out worse than anything when that fuckin' snake bit Savage. I hate snakes. A lot. Absolutely no WAY you'd get me to do that. Devenomized or not... no. fucking. way.

I really thought Liz was having an affair with Flair, I felt gutted for the Macho Man. It didn't seem fair after they got back together at Wrestlemania 7.

 

Nailz beating up Bossman seemed legit when I was younger as well because it seemed so random and brutal. I'd never seen anything like that happen before and it seems like a lot of people remember it well, even those who aren't exactly massive wrestling fans recall it.

I believed the HBK blackout angle and I also believed the Hart Foundation really hated the US no wonder why I was such a Patriot mark at the time(Dodges flaming garbage headed my way)

Pillman "shooting" at the ECW arena. It looked legit, until Pillman pulled a fan over the guardrail.

 

I also remember he pulled some guy over the guardrail at a WWF show and "stabbed" him with a pencil. That one didn't look like a shoot at all, but the ECW one was close.

I also believed that Pillman really walked out on WCW during the Pillman/Sullivan Respect Match.

The HBK blackout thing for me too.

 

Also, the first couple times Hall appeared on Nitro for the first time, I thought that was real too. At that time, I never thought wrestlers would come out from the crowd plus I had no idea Hall left WCW so I thought it was actually WWF invasion.

I was almost close to buying the NAO vs Cactus and Chainsaw angle where they got pushed off the stage in the dumpster and the locker room emptied. The thing that did it for me was when other wrestlers started to be fighting the NAO for real and yelling at them that they took it too far.

 

I totally bought the HBK blackout angle as well.

Yeah, I bought the HBK Blackout as well. Owen and Cornette "breaking kayfabe" and few distraught HBK fans sold me completely on it being totally legit. I started going "Hmm" a bit when a week or two later Owen was back in heel form and taking pride in the concussion though.

 

On the puro side of things, the Naoya Ogawa vs Shinya Hashimoto match where just about everybody from the back wants to fucking kill Ogawa after he kicks Hashimoto's head in. Ricky Chosyu kicking his own guy Yuji Nagata for restraining him from whipping Ogawa's ass was the nicest touch. At least I'm pretty sure it was a worked shoot.

For a couple minutes when Chaz broke the Beaver character saying 'This is so stupid' and walking off I thought it was real, mostly because it was so stupid.

 

I'm still not sure about that one guy vs. Invader III where that one guy did the knee drop off the top rope and Invader III was spewing up blood.

I'm shocked by how many people couldn't tell the HBK blackout was a work.

 

The Pillman/Sullivan match fooled me.

Owen solidified it by looking concerned when it happend. Then i realized "How is he 1 second jumping around posing, and the next flat on his face?"
