Guest the pinjockey Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Is it just me or do they seem to be doing the hard sell on Smackdown that they are better than Raw yadda yadda yadda but on Raw they might make a couple comments a night like "This is exclusive to Raw" or "You won't see this on SD". Granted I may be wrong (I watch Raw at work and I don't always hear all the commentary, so if I am please correct me and ignore this) but it just sounds so stupid that Raw is off in it's own world while SD can't go five minutes without a we are better than them comment.

Be clever about getting your cross promotion on the other show. I do think that they should be doing that type of stuff but pointles bashing just is stupid. BTW Bischoff is gold. It pisses me off everytime he entertains me though knowing that they already have a backup plan to get rid of him.

It just sounds too idiotic to actually have been thought up by anyone, aside from Russo. No one would ever buy Stacy as the Raw GM (though her being a mole for Steph is interesting). The rationale for screwing Bisch is to get Steph over as a face? I watched SMDN tonight and Steph seemed to be playing it totally heel. So either this stuff is bullshit or Steph is doing the world's worst job of trying to play a face. I'm not sure which.

If RAW went to say Smackdown is shit, nobody would watch it, because everyone is watching RAW anyways.

By the way, kudos to Lillian on taking that whatever-you-call-it from one of the Island Boys. I was on the phone with someone when that went down, and they thought I hurt myself because I screamed "OH SHIT!!" Erm, anyways, Stephanie is trying to channel the on-the-fence Vinnie Mac character, the one who always said "in the interest of fairness" and stuff from early 2001. The one you knew was a bad person deep down, but did something neat or redeeming enough to not totally hate them. Problem is, Steph is not Vinnie Mac. Of course, back then they actually had plans and stuff, whereas now it's obvious they're working week-to-week. Thus, she plays face, heel, or tweener from week to week. The only one of the three I find mildly entertaining is face Steph, although heel Steph is hotter. Now then, Bisch. Or as I call him, The Man. He is playing the slimy heel SO PERFECTLY. The Subway spot was a thing of beauty. Starting a "watch Raw" chant was GOLD. Unfortunately, he's too good. People are noticing that he's not just shilling for his own product, he's shilling for his very good product. I know lots of people who only watch Raw, more who watch both, but no one who watches only Smackdown. I lost my point somewhere in there. Anyway, JR and King don't say bad things about Smackdown because they don't really have things to boast about that are Raw-exclusive. What, the Hardcore division? Smackdown can at least say the Cruisers are exclusive. Oh, and Michael Cole or Tazz said tonight how they were different companies for some reason. Maybe their constant shilling for Smackdown is to make up for Steph's crappy job of it. JR and the King don't need to shill, because Bisch is there. Where was I? Oh yeah, stay out of my booze. As for the pseudo mutual show bashing, ColeTazz are always going on about how the cruisers are "exclusive to SmackDown". It's just that they're not doing the blatant "Nyah nyah my show is better than your show" routine. I think they're going with the slowburn on the Raw/SmackDown rivalry, which definitely works for me. WW_ has been hotshotting then dropping stuff left and right lately, and I'm glad they're finally sticking to their guns and letting things run their course before bringing down the curtain. And yes, the Steph "face GM" is not working, on both the writing and the execution. Axe them both.

To be honest, I'm loving this, and it's just going to get better every week. I wonder if it will lead to a match between Bischoff and a superstar from Smackdown of Stephanie McMahon's choosing, with the loser's show getting canned. Hmmmmmm....Wouldn't that be interesting to see.

Just have Bischoff sign another huge main event, and say "This is why the Neilsen's show we have x-thousand more viewers than Smackdown." And the Subway spot and huge banner were absolute gold.

No it doesn't, SD is on network TV while RAW is on cable, so comparisons between the two are harder to make, but SD often has more viewers than RAW.

I wouldn't want to see a match between them either, but I hope WWE does this(even though it's likely they won't since the McMahons still hold a grudge against Bischoff): Have Bischoff and Steph argue back and forth on the mic on Raw, then have Bischoff suddenly KO her with a karate kick and then say "I told you I was gonna knock you out!"

Either because it's in less homes or because it's pre-taped. They need to do something about that. Either way, I think instead of Tazz and Cole doing the pimping, they need to ask JR to do his old routine during the NWA and mid-90s WWF. "This is what you get from RAW! Two athletes, giving it all they have! It's not about posing! It's not about trying to cover up a bald spot!" They should also put Kane on SD so that JR can rag on them for having all these goofy-looking guys in masks (Kane, Hurricane, Rey) BTW, the banner was a funny visual, but I'm sure it pissed off a number of audience members in that corner who had their cameras set to go off just when Rocky got to their corner. They got the back of the banner as a result.
