Guest SlowChemical6 Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I don't expect to see Austin back on WWE TV any time soon...if ever. But I never say never in this business, and it wouldn't *shock* me to see Austin show up out of the blue a year or two from now. I'd be surprised, but not as surprised as if Bret Hart showed up on RAW. The only question is...who would swallow their pride? Would Vince and Jim Ross come crawling to Austin, or would Austin come crawling back to the WWE? How would the fans respond to Austin after he walked out on the company and was arrested for beating Debra? Would they pop like marks or would there be legit heat? How would the locker room accept Austin? Would he be pushed to the top again, or would Vince not trust him enough to push him to the top? Personally, I miss his presence on WWE TV, and it's a shame because he's 37 and probably only has 3-5 more years of ring time left in his tank. That surgically-repaired neck and bum knees can't hold up forever, and I don't think that Austin is the type to stick around past his prime.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I would be VERY surprised if Austin never returns... Give it a few months, he'll miss the 'rush' he used to talk about in his interviews...he'll be back This has been the Taker Mark
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I doubt he will, but then again, by the time Austin's ready to come back, Vince will be so desperate (having gone through the split, Goldberg returning and so on..) that he'll probably happily take him back. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Well, I dont particularly want to see Goldberg either, but if Vince gets desperate enough, Goldberg will be signed in the blink of an eye. Anglesault would be happy cause I would bet they'd tune down Edge's spear count..
Guest thebigjig Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I probably don't want to see Goldberg back either, but I know I would mark out... even if it's for about 5 minutes As for Austin... he'll be back, but there's no doubt that he will be a heel. The fans would pop for him initially, but they would have to bring him in as a heel given how much they've buried him over the past two months.
Guest Breetai Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I probably don't want to see Goldberg back either, but I know I would mark out... even if it's for about 5 minutes . You'd mark our for the whole match?
Guest TestKick Report post Posted August 16, 2002 If Austin came back, the fans would still go apeshit. I also think Vince would keep him as a face. No Goldberg.
Guest Bricks Report post Posted August 16, 2002 He's got quite a few years left on that contract I believe. Yeah, he'll be back. If you're going to pay a guy, might as well use him, especially when he can deliver Vince $$$ in return.

Guest Chuck Woolery Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Cutthroat. We. All. Know. That. Troll. - Mike Van Siclen. PS Yeah, I agree with whoever said that they'd pop for Austin initially, but then boo the fuck out of him a la Triple H in late 2000-2001.
Guest midnight_burn Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I think Austin will probably be back eventually, i doubt anytime soon though. It seems just about everyone comes back at some point.
Guest Brian Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I think vince with shallow a little of his pride with Austin before he convinces Goldberg, and pays him. Anyways, they've painted Austin in such a bad light that I think if, and when, he comes back that he'll get a huge pop, stun JR, stun vince, and everything will be back to normal. Guest notJames Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I think you're overestimating the retentive powers of the WW_ fanbase. In a few months, they'll all forget about the, um, unpleasantries surrounding Austin's domestic life and welcome him back with open arms. Besides, it's been reported that Austin wants to come back, so it will only be a matter of time. Not that it excuses anything he may or may not have done. I'm just saying that that's the nature of the entertainment business. People tend to turn a blind eye to celebrities' trangressions as long as they continue to entertain. It sucks, but that's the world we live in. Sigh...

Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I doubt that Austin will ever wrestle again, and I would be shocked if he ever came back to the WWE. He isn't getting any younger, as he is 37 years old (even though he can probably still be great for another 3-4 years), and don't forget what a stubborn and proud man Austin is as well as Vince. Vince is so bullheaded that he wouldn't even call Bret Hart after Wrestlemania 18 when Bret said that he should to patch things up. Vince is likely to keep his feeling for Austin for a long time. Then again, the one difference that everyone has pointed out is that Austin can draw mega ratings for Vince, given the situation. I think Austin probably has a long shot of ever returning to the ring.
Guest notJames Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Vince is likely to keep his feeling for Austin for a long time... I think any and all vendettas/grudges Vince may hold do not stand up against Vince's love of easy money.
Guest TheBostonStrangler Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Austin will be back, and it'll be before the end of 2003. And trust me, the fans will go fucking CRAZY for Austin. When HHH made that comment about him on RAW during his bit with Michaels, HHH got the loudest reaction of the night, a boo. Trust me, he'd be cheered like never before. Who knows what'd they make him into, as he could get massive, MASSIVE heat either way. A nice, new, REAL Austin vs. McMahon II, or Austin as a heel sucking up to Vince to get back, Austin and Bischoff against the face McMahon....many, many possibilites, all of which are intriguing. Austin is a guy the fans want to cheer, so they will. He could probably run a busload of orphans over a cliff and they'd still cheer him. I'll bet some people have dismissed the whole wife beating charge on the basis that he's their favorite wrestler alone.

Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I feel that he'll be back, and I surely want him back. Fact is, he makes money, wants to come back and is in good shape. As for what they'll do with him, who cares. He'll be over, he'll draw, and sooner or later things will be back to normal. Austin's not going to be anyone's bitch or take shit from anyone. He'll more than likely apologize and really try and earn his respect back and those who don't like him just won't.
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Austin will get booed. The wife beating thing wasn't nationally televised till 2 days ago. But I gotta remember how fickle wrestling fans are.

Guest Brian Report post Posted August 17, 2002 That story has been so misconstrued. He never said anything about not wanting to put Brock over. He said that for a match like that, they should have handled it better. It was a match that deserved build-up. It deserved more than a cheap run. He was pissed in general with the direction of his character over the last six months, and the direction of the company as a whole. Hogan pulled way more shit in his WWF run alone than Austin ever did.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted August 17, 2002 Mentioning Hogan in an austin thread, why? Rock should no sell Brock's sorry ass at Summerslam to teach him a lesson for thinking he's better then everyone else. Or Call Paul roma.
Guest SlowChemical6 Report post Posted August 17, 2002 What about Austin vs. Bischoff? They have legit heat stemming back to 1994. I can see it now: Eric decides that J.R. isn't entertaining, he orders the Island Boys to beat him up...boom, glass crashes, Austin makes the save, Austin vs. Bischoff.
