After reading the phobia thread, I was pretty surprised to find that so many people were afraid of being alone. Anyone else but me actually enjoy the moments when human contact becomes a distant reality? Anyone but me pursue time for self-reflection and peace and quiet to the point of going out into the woods camping for a couple days without telling anyone? I don't know, maybe I'm just a sociopath, I've got friends and all, but I'm perfectly comfortable not talking to, or seeing anyone for long stretches of time.

I treasure my moments alone. You don't really get a chance to think when you're around people and a lot of things you just don't enjoy as much. At least in my opinion.

I enjoy being alone at times, and doing stuff on my own. But, on days like today, I just wanna walk around with one of my mates.

Jake: "Richy? Town?"

Rich: "Yup."

I have no problem being alone. In fact, there are many days after I get home from work where I unplug the phone, lock the front door (to prevent a pop-in), turn up the stereo, and just chill on the couch for several hours. Sometimes, there is just nothing better...

I like being alone sometimes. Just being somewhere that is quiet and not action filled relaxes me and is soothing.

I want to be completely isolated from society. I am sick of people.

But then, I will miss the interaction... and come off of delusion to realize once again that I need someone to be with.

Until then, I'll enjoy those sweet delusions.

Alone time? sure. Being alone for an extended period of time though can sometimes drive me crazy.

For me, it's really a mixed bag. There are times when I just wanna be alone to do whatever, whether it be to write, think, or just chill. Other times, it can be kinda depressing to be completely alone. Sometimes ya just need people around you and others you don't. I don't really think there are that many people who can just stick to one.

Growing up, I was always a quiet kid and although I had plenty of friends, I was perfectly content staying in the house playing with my wrestling figures. Sure I enjoyed the company of other kids, but when it came to things like playing with my toys, not a motherfucking person had better be around me. I couldn't stand playing "wrestlers" with someone else at the same time. I dunno if it was just the realization of how moronic it was for you to hold one wrestler and smash it up against another wrestler being held by someone else, or if it was the fact that I could do stuff like commentary when I was alone. It was probably a mixture of both, but all I know about that is when it came to playing with toys, I stood alone.

That isn't to say that being alone all the time is fun. Most of the time, I don't mind being alone cause then I can do as I please around the house or whatever, but when it comes to social situations, I MUST be with at least one person. I'm not one to conform, but I can't stand going out and doing stuff alone.

I think the most frustrating thing about it is when you wanna go out and do something, but no one is free or they don't wanna go out. That's when sitting around the house on the computer for 5 hours gets a little depressing. Other than those times, it's all good.

But like I said, I think everyone likes both their alone time and their time with others.

I've always liked being alone...but when I'm in a good mood. Being alone in a bad mood sucks because all the problems in your life tend to dredge themselves up and get brought to the forefront. If there's something to do and I'm alone, it's cool.

It's good every once in a while. When you're like a lot of people on this board, and live alone, it gets kind of crappy. Like, I lived with (my now ex-girlfriend) Chelsea, but we broke up. Now, I live in a rather large house, with nobody here. So, it gets kind of shitty, especially if you kind of have a social disfunction, like me. I can't be around crowds of people for long, I start to get queasy. I've always been a quiet, keeps-to-himself guy, so I don't have many friends. The ones I do have are in Massachusetts.

I have acquaintances (sp?) from work, that I'll go to the movies with or hang at their house, but no real friends, you know?

I'm too nervous to go out and try and meet people, due to the large fact that most of the times I did that throughout my life, I get picked on, beaten up, etc. That's the problem, my inability to function in a social envoirnment.

Oh well, I've rambled far too much now.

I love being alone. It's quiet and relaxing. Plus I tend to get a lot more done when no one else is with me.

The Number One reason to find some time alone, in my opinion...

I'll agree. Maybe that's why there are always locks on bedroom doors...

What I love most is being alone in my house. I can have all the privacy that I want, but if I get bored or want some human interaction, I can just go to talk to my brother or parents. It's a pretty good system, actually. My whole family gets along great, because we're all like that.

Okay, maybe we have some social problems...
