Motherfucking Kip-Up

Recommended Posts

Guest Spaceman Spiff

God damnit that pisses me off.

Benoit works the back/neck, throws on the 5 rolling-Germans, and even puts Rock in the Crossface, and then Rock kips-up, wins the match, and does the "Just Bring It" motion to Lesnar.

Why the hell does he have to do that seemingly every match? He just no sells *THE ENTIRE MATCH*

It makes it hard to get into the psychology of the match when you know Rock will just pop up at the end of the match as fresh as if he never even wrestled.

I want to like Rock, I really do, but annoying stuff like that & his tired promos make it hard.

That and the People's Elbow are the only thing I hate about the Rock.

His promo this week where he spoke German and Chinese was quite good.

The fact that everyone and their mother can and has countered the ankle lock is FAR worse.

EDIT: I like the Rock, but I've admitted numerous times in the past he's not perfect. As far as his selling goes, excluding the kip up, he does a far more consistent job of it than RVD.

I thought Mark Henry no selling Angle's ankle lock was worse.

I kinda expect that from a slug like Henry.

But it's inexcusable coming from Rock.

I can't stand it when The Rock becomes impervious to pain after a grueling match with one of the most dirtiest technicians in the business. Everytime I see that Kip-up I just want to get in the ring and Chairshot him back to the mat.

That would actually be pretty cool to see. Rock kips up and Benoit just blasts him in the face and puts him down again.

I don't mind the kip-up as long as it doesn't lead to the win. If it leads to a BAH GAWD desperation move that puts them both down, wahoo.

I didn't care much for the "Benoit benoit benoit benoitROCKBOTTOM! ONE TWO THREE!" ending. I hate out of nowhere endings.

But it invariably *always* leads to the win.

Did it to Guerrero

Did it to Flair

Did it to Benoit

All lead directly to the win

Hell he even saved Egypt from the Scorpion King with the Kip-Up...

...Oh you mean wrestling?

Yeah it is annoying vos it totally negates the previous 2 minutes of action.

It's not as bad as when he did it at Wrestlemania. Rock couldn't simply stand up like a normal person.

If he was doing it in a pointless Raw match i wouldn't mind it as much, but when he does it in big matches, like last year against Booker T in the Summerslam main event it does rather annoy me.

The kip-up is a good spot, but wrong for Rock, as his playing possum style works much better for him. Leave the kip-up for guys like The Big Show, those who need it.

I don't particularly mind the kip-up. Each wrestler has their own flaws.

With Rocky, I know a match will at least be energetic, if not technically sound. With Benoit, I know it'll be a good match, but I could care less about his character.

I've said this same thing before...

The Kip Up that Rock does NO SELLS THE ENTIRE MATCH!!!!!!

Worst move ever.

He kips up and looks as strong and fresh as the minute the match started.

Fuck that move.

Uh.....the kip up is considered a move? Offensive or defensive?

a move is a motion.

Wrestling "moves" are more maneuver than motion.

I hate kip-ups too... for the reasons mentioned, so I can't really add anything to the topic. Although Naz' comment about Egypt was funny and on the money (hey, that rhymed!)

...but I take it this means The Rock actually (*gasp*) DID SOMETHING ON TV THIS WEEK? OMG! Next thing you know you'll tell me he actually defended the title...

What do you guys think is worse for no-selling, the kip-up or Hulk-up. Personally, I'm going with the kip-up. At least the hulk-up is gradual, the kip-up is out of nowhere. The hulk-up can also be sold as an adrenalin fueled second wind thing.

Mind you, I hate both moves. When Hulk is in full no-sell mode he looks like he's too stupid to figure out that punches should hurt. I still pray for the day that he Hulks up and then someone gives him a hefty boot to the nuts.

Maybe Rock should start watching some old school HBK matches to see how to use a Kip-Up correctly.
