Schyster (14:39) to win the titles when Scott pinned DiBiase after a Frankensteiner. *** Almost immediately upon entering the WWF, The Steiner Brothers challenged the tag team champs to a match. Jack Tunney finally granted them one here. 2) The Undertaker defeated Nailz (7:24) with a Tombstone piledriver. ¾ * No real backstory here. Just an average Undertaker match. 3) WWF Intercontinental champion Shawn Michaels defeated Marty Jannetty after a super kick (17:41). ** ¾ In early 1992, Marty Jannetty disappeared from the WWF. He returned just after the Survivor Series. He came out the crown and attacked Michaels before one of his matches. 4) WWF Champion Bret Hart defeated Razor Ramon (22:16) by submission. *** No real backstory here, as well. Ramon was named the #1 Contender. 5) Randy Savage won the 30-man Royal Rumble match, and earned a WWF title shot at WrestleMania IX (61:37). **** Order of Entry: Ric Flair, Sgt. Slaughter, Tatanka, Beau Beverly, Bob Backlund, Jerry Lawler, The Undertaker, Brian Knobbs, Crush, Owen Hart, Bam Bam Bigelow, Samu, Brutus Beefcake, Yokozuna, Curt Hennig, Typhoon, Lex Luger (This was Luger debut. He was billed as a mystery participant), Nailz, Koko B. Ware, Hulk Hogan, Blake Beverly, Papa Shango, Rick Martel, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Fatu, The Berzerker, The Big Bossman, Jerry Sags & Earthquake WRESTLEMANIA IX 1) WWF tag team champions The Steiner Brothers defeated Ted DiBiase & Irwin R. Schyster in a Steel Cage match (16:47). *** ½ The Steiner?s won the gold at the Royal Rumble, and the former champs want a rematch. This is DiBiase & Schyster?s final shot at the titles. 2) Tatanka defeated Bam Bam Bigelow (9:24) after a fall away slam. ** Tatanka was still undefeated at this point, and Bigelow was trying to end his streak. 3) The Headshrinkers defeated High Energy (5:16). * ½ Just a basic match. 4) The Undertaker defeated Razor Ramon (9:41) after a Tombstone piledriver. * ¾ No real backstory to this match as well. 5) WWF Intercontinental champion Shawn Michaels defeated Crush (13:40) after a superkick. Crush pinned Michaels in a tag team match, and later pinned him in a non-title match to earned a shot at the title here. 6) Yokozuna defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan (6:02). ½ * Yokozuna is from Japan, and Duggan didn?t like him parading the Japanese flag around. 7) Curt Hennig defeated Ric Flair in a Loser Leaves the WWF match (25:48). ****¾ Curt Hennig accidentally eliminated Flair from the Royal Rumble match. Flair took wasn?t happy about this and attack Hennig 2 weeks later during an interview. The 2 men would attack each other at every opportunity, costing each other matches and titles. Flair claimed that the WWF wasn?t big enough for the two of them and challenged Hennig to a Loser Leaves the WWF match. 8) Hulk Hogan defeated Lex Luger by disqualification (12:22). **¾ Luger attacked Hogan on an episode of Monday Night Raw claiming to have the best body in the WWF. He later challenged Hogan to a match. 9) WWF Champion Bret Hart defeated Randy Savage (33:29). *****Savage won the Royal Rumble match to earn this title shot.
