Guest benoitrules2000 Report post Posted August 18, 2002 Hey, I just picked up her album and i admit i hate 90% of today's music but this album kicks ass but i've always been a mark for the piano! I was wondering what the verdict was on the smusic board?
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted August 18, 2002 If you like her, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you'll love Avril Lavigne even more.
Guest DokDoyle Report post Posted August 19, 2002 I have a 3 CD changer. In it is Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carleton and Avril Lavigne.

Guest Matt Young Report post Posted August 19, 2002 I have a 3 CD changer. In it is Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carleton and Avril Lavigne. *marks out* Honest to God, my CD player has those exact same 3 CD's in it right now. It's weird... I usually listen to punk and other forms of rock, but I've loved Michelle Branch ever since I heard her indy release, "Broken Bracelet" and I happened to fall in love with Avril's "Complicated" and Vanessa's "A Thousand Miles" on the same day back in January when I heard them while stoned (which always makes good music even more special for me, as far as the general feeling goes) and I ended up buying their albums which are quite good. Damn, I sound like a 13 year old girl.

Guest justsoyouknow Report post Posted August 19, 2002 good to see that my use of "smusic" has caught on....I rule. Anyway, I got this CD for my mom and I listened to it with her....it's all right, but that has got to be the shittiest cover of Paint it Black I've ever heard. I remember awhile back on the board someone referred to Vanessa Carlton and said "Like Michelle Branch, but without the lasting power"...I'm going to have to agree. by the way, Michelle Branch is hot. That's all I've got.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted August 19, 2002 Avril = Not Complicated but Overrated! Yes. Flame me, but it's the truth.
Guest benoitrules2000 Report post Posted August 19, 2002 I agree, the cover is pretty average but at least she has legitamite talent unlike most. But other than that the album is wicked, and yes i did get smusic off you, and yes you do rule!

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 19, 2002 Girl who plays a piano. Have I seen that before recently? Oh yeah, Alicia Keys... So you're impling that years ago when she learned to play the piano that she was doing it just so she could rip off Alicia Keys many years later? Well...then...that's interesting. Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 So you're impling that years ago when she learned to play the piano that she was doing it just so she could rip off Alicia Keys many years later? No, I'm just saying that she is milking a current trend in the music industry. Can you actually see her around 5 years from now? Her 15 minutes will be up soon. *TICK TOCK* *TICK TOCK*
Guest Ripper Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I think that Vanessa is actually Michelle Branch double dipping and getting some extra play time. I mean, They sound and look too much alike. And SHE isn't milking the current trend in the music industry. She got a record deal because Keys is hot, but she has known how to play the piano and trying to get in the business for years. Guest Narcoleptic Jumper Report post Posted August 21, 2002 This is how it goes: Meech > Avril > Vanessa. But they're all good.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted August 21, 2002 F*ck it, good music is good music to me and I damn sure think Vanesa Carlton is good music. I love her singles, and her entire album as a whole is just awesome.

She'll have much longer than 5 years if her talent is anything to go by!
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted August 28, 2002 Huh! How is two people using the piano at the forefront of their music a "trend"? And have you even heard the album? She'll have much longer than 5 years if her talent is anything to go by! Let me spell it out for ya, over the past 2 decades we've went from: New Wave to Rap to Hair Bands to Grunge to Gangster Rap to Pop to Boy Bands to Rebirth of Rock to Hip Hop to Shit Pop By "Shit Pop", I mean everything new the music industy is churning out that they throw against a wall and "sticks". For example, Charlotte Church. Yes she has talent, good voice etc. Everybody liked her because her music was "new", when in fact it was just Opera coming back to the mainstream. This is called a "trend". And where is Charlotte Church now? She's grown past the point of cuteness, and no one gives a shit about her music anymore. So when Vanessa Carlton is in a ditch smoking crack in 5 years, don't say I didn't warn you...
