Guest scratch Posted August 18, 2002 Report Posted August 18, 2002 I got the DVD set last night (August 17th) at the Best Buy at Palisades Mall in West Nyack, NY, and while there a lot of extra features, some of them listed in the other Hulk Still Rules thread weren't very specific: The Royal Rumble 1990 starts when Hogan comes in, it doesn't start from the beginning. Also, the Genius, Bossman, Race and Honky Tonk Man segments are just Hulk talking about them, there's no actual matches against those 4 guys. That was very decieving, as I would love to see Bossman/Hogan cage match and the Race match. But all there was was Hulk cutting promos on them. Tres dissapointing. Other than that, it's a pretty enjoyable set, and I you should definitely pick it up on Tuesday, the official release day. --Scratch
Guest Daredevil21 Posted August 18, 2002 Report Posted August 18, 2002 You have got to be fuckin kidding me. This is some shit. While it would make sense to start in the Rumble when Hogan got in there, that's only about 10 or 20 minutes of the match that we'd get to see. I can't believe that there's only clips of the other matches you mentioned. How'd you get to see it days before its release anyway?
Guest Shaved Bear Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 wow this really is a disappointment
Guest Grenouille Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 I'm not all that disappointed. Out of the four matches, they all pretty much sucked except for the Boss Man cage match. The 1990 Rumble also sucked quite a bit. Hogan entered at #25 so that must be short as hell.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 Eh, doesn't bother me, still 4 hours + the first DVD of Hogan.
Guest Retro Rob Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 The 1990 Rumble also sucked quite a bit. I don't know what show you were watching.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 The 1990 Rumble was the second best to 1992. The Race/Hogan match from SNME was also pretty good.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 The Race/Hogan match was the thing I was looking most forward too on the disc.
Guest Grenouille Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 The 1990 Rumble also sucked quite a bit. I don't know what show you were watching. It had been atleast a few years since I'd seen it so I popped it in after reading your post. I suppose I was being way too harsh, it wasn't all that bad, but I found the undercard to be horrid.
Guest Downhome Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 What is the MATCH listing for this DVD anyhow?
Guest Daredevil21 Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 Yeah, the undercard is horrid, although Duggan/Boss Man is surprisingly average. The Rumble match is the second best of all time, and it really gives 92 a run for its money.
Guest scratch Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 I can't believe that there's only clips of the other matches you mentioned. How'd you get to see it days before its release anyway? Daredevil21, I guess Best Buy put it out a few days beforehand, there was 30 of them sitting on the shelf, next to King of the Ring 2k2, which was also supposed to hit stores Tuesday. Yeah, the Race match is a definite bummer too. Ah, but there are some cool easter eggs that compensate for some of the missing material, such as the Real American music video from 85, and Mean Gene's rendition of "Tutti Frutti", with Hogan on bass guitar. Classic Wrestlecrap right there! --Scratch
