Guest Hoyakillah Posted February 1, 2002 Report Posted February 1, 2002 Well, it seems to me (and I might as well ought to christen my first post here by getting some discussion going on) that the two most popular independent wrestlers in the US circuit right now, at least the two most popular wrestlers to come up since Modest and Daniels, are Low-Ki and the American Dragon. First of all, let's be honest - none of us had really gotten into the two of them before the ECWA Super 8 last year. Even the DVDVR guys, who seem to have a collective omniscience over this sort of thing, hadn't really heard too much about either of them before. So, which one do you prefer? I mean, to me, it's a preference between a striker-type and a wrestler-type. Those who are into MMA seem to me to prefer Low-Ki, whereas those who prefer "regular wrestling" tend to be AmDrag types. Not to say that there isn't significant crossover between the two of them - American Dragon is a proficient striker, and Low-Ki knows how to grapple, as he evidenced fighting Eddy Guerrero. But I'm curious as to what people think. I know a lot of people have followed the DVDVR Playazs' lead in worshipping Low-Ki, but I myself am an unrequited American Dragon mark. I don't know what it is about him - I just see his moveset and in-ring style as more "finished." But definitely throw your thoughts up on here.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted February 3, 2002 Report Posted February 3, 2002 Well...I haven't seen much of either. I don't follow the indies too well, and the only indies I do/did follow (XPW and Primal Conflict) are/were hardcore feds...
Guest REDSAND611 Posted February 3, 2002 Report Posted February 3, 2002 Personally I prefer Low Ki'. He has a more well-rounded style than AmDrag, although sometimes he doesn't mix his various styles in the most logical ways, throwing in high spots where there just shouldn't be any. -Andrew Nelson
Guest Posted February 9, 2002 Report Posted February 9, 2002 Low Ki is all right only......I never seen American Dragon but he is suposed to be good. Loq Ki also I read is a big bitch in the back......I heard he throws shit and bitches when he don't get his way.
Guest poopsicle316 Posted February 13, 2002 Report Posted February 13, 2002 Supposedly a big backstage mess with Ric Blade was what led to Low Ki's hasty departure from CZW (so the above post would make sense). But I still prefer him to Dragon, his style is more exciting. Dragon may be better from a technical standpoint, but Ki's matches always feel more fluid and coherent (please ignore his recent match with Sabu) and he has alot more of a "pro" look than Dragon does (IMO anyway).
