I was watching the Utah/Houston game today and it was pretty competetive basketball. I would watch it more often if there wasn't a lopsided score every time I turned a game on. The game I watched today was in double OT when I stopped watching it.

No, I do not watch. I've tried, but I just can't; it's much too boring. Slow "fast breaks," tons of missed shots, and (with the exception of Sue Bird) no hot chicks to watch makes it unbearable.

Watched about two minutes of it. I saw no defense, no boxing out, or following shots. I've seen high school teams play better. While in truth, it was better than the NBA, I saw nothing to make me watch it again.

No and I don't plan to start now.

I was getting frustrated by the turnovers that I saw being committed.

My local paper covers it quite a bit, because someone from my hometown plays for the Washington team, but since it's basically only on WTSN, which is a digital channel, I never see it.

I watch the WNBA for two reasons:

1- My favorite NBA team (Kings) has a corresponding WNBA franchise (Monarchs).

2- For the simple fact that I hate baseball, which pretty much makes it the only thing on TV during the summertime, AFAIC.

I could take the league more seriously if they didn't do things like make a huge deal out of one slam dunk in the leagues histroy. Stuff like that just makes it seem desperate.

I've tried watching it, it doesn't entertain me. Too slow. Women's Soccer is better.

Edit - Sue Bird is very hot though.

No.

(Prepare for bold, offensive statement......)

Women suck at sports. In general they are slower, weaker, less skilled etc.

With the possible exception of netball.

Its boring, the college games seem to be better. I understand about the slam dunk deal but don't Utah have a chick thats 7'2 she didn't dunk yet?

Margo Dydek (the 7'2'' chick) is one of those "practice dunkers." According to a statement on one of her fan sites, she doesn't like to dunk:

"Margo does not really like to dunk and she told Linda Hamilton why.

It is because a friend was out a year with knee surgery. She bumped when she came down from the basket. A friend from the Polish men's team dunked in a game and had an even worse accident. Two segments of his little finger were torn off on the dunk."

I wonder what position I would play if I could play in the WNBA. I'm 6'1 and 215 pounds, I could probably play every position on the floor.

What is the average height of a WNBA center?

Like Jim Rome says, "I don't watch it because it is quite simply, BAD BASKETBALL"

I for one enjoy the WNBA.

The thing about the league....people aren't used to seening people that can actually play defense. Uncontested shots are vertually not there in this league, while people love watching the NBA and have only 1-2 guys that play defence.

In the WNBA they play better defense, rebound better and are better fundamentally sound. Yeah, the NBA might be more exciting, but I can enjoy fundamentally sound basket ball too.

WNBA really has a image problem. It has the stigma of Ugly Tall Girls running up and down with no style with Lesbian fans.

WNBA might have about 3 good lookers (Sue Bird being the biggest name).

They are stuck with being stale for awhile, it was a nice concept but It died quickly because in it's 5 years it's had the same to dominating teams L.A Sparks and Houston Comets.

I think most importantly, No one wants to watch a so-called "professional" sport, where the players could be beaten by a street league. Missing layups regularly, is not fundamentally sound basketball.

I watched a little bit of one game and the play by play never criticizes the lack of skill. I mean when I watch the NBA, if a player/team misses easy shots, the commentators are all over them. in the WNBA, they run up and down the court missing 5 layups in a row, and the commentators just kind of ignore it like they were difficult shot...here is an example

Commentator: Leslie going to coast to coast for the easy layup and........

(misses layup)

Commentator:........(dead air)............................................................................

Do you really think they play great defense, or is the offense just that bad?

You're kidding if you think any WNBA player is better at any aspect of the game than any NBA player.

Fans of the WNBA or women's Basketball in general always use fundamentally sound. Watching only bits and pieces, they commit a ton of turnovers, they can't shoot, they can't jump. That's not what I'd call fundamentally sound.

I might watch it if they had a Philadelphia team. As it is, I really have no one to root for.

If I wanted to watch horses run around I'd watch the Kentucky Derby....

I watch WNBA occasionally when I'm bored, the last time being the Sparks vs Seattle.

It's just bad basketball. Most players don't even do the fundamentals correctly, which talented male high school players do better. It's just bad basketball.

I also agree about how the Lisa Leslie dunk makes WNBA look so desperate. Seriously, a 6'6 chick dunking a mini-basketball with 1 hand doesn't impress me in the slightest.

The way the girls look don't mean shit... guys gawk over Anna Kournikova, but she isn't doing a damn thing for tennis.

The entire league just needs to learn how to play better basketball... and that starts by teaching these girls better in high school and college.

On average, the girls in the WNBA have better shooting percentages than the guys from the NBA.

And yes, it is good defense. The problem is that it hardly happens any more in the NBA, that people don't know what it looks like any more. It happens in college hoops...and if you notice, they put up numbers close to the Women players.

As for none of the women being better than any guy in the NBA, I will still take Dawn Staley at my point before I would take quite a few NBA guys.

That's interesting because everytime I've seen them shoot they show no touch and it's a brick. But if you say so, the ball is smaller and the opponent is worse.

The NBA's become a defensive league which is why it's gotten boring. The difference between a WNBA team and Men's College Basketball team is the competition the men face is alot tougher.

Do you really think a WNBA team would come close to beating any college team?

Sorry but men who play sports at a competive level are better than women. This doesn't mean John Doe is better than Dawn Staley at Basketball.
