Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted September 4, 2002 I'm late in the discussion but I would like to say how Curt Swan is one of my favorite Superman artists of all time. Areacode212, gthureson, and starvenger were around back at the old Smarks EZBoard and they know my feelings on Pre-Crisis Supes from a creative standpoint. It was *all* shit except for the few issues of Pre-Crisis related Superman issues mentioned above. The Post-Crisis Superman is a more balanced character that is no longer out of place in the decades he has been around. The Post-Crisis Superman is character that readers can relate to, which is how a character becomes successful. The Pre-Crisis Superman never evolved from fighting lame super-villains or ad nauseum fighting retarded space invaders who sucked ass. Compare the Pre-Crisis Superman's stories to Pre Crisis Batman, JLoA, All-Star Squadron, Inifinity Inc. etc. and Supes looks *extremely* lame and out of place with the world. Supes never left the '50's and when the writer and artist boom of the late '60's happened, Supes was dead in the water. Neal Adams, Carmine Infanitino, Jim Steranko, Mike Sekowsky, Dick Giordano, Gene Colan, Sal Buscema, Don Newton, John Romita Sr., Frank Frazetta, are just some of the men that helped shape comic books. They gave comic books a more realistic feel to them while still staying true to the concept of the super hero but updating it as well. Julius Schwartz can kiss my ass.
