Brock Lesnar has ruined my ability to...

Recommended Posts

Guest RicFlairGlory

Just figured I'd mention how I no longer can enjoy re-loading a page in order to get an update any longer, becuase I cannot bring myself to press the "F5" key to reload the page.

Yet another reason that Vince McMahon is the devil.

(You guessed it, I'm bored, and the thought of Brock as Champion makes me wish I went back to college a week earlier so I would have an excuse not to watch SS at my friend with scramblevisions house)

Heck, I credit Brock. I mean, with my limited computer knowledge, I never new that hitting F5 would refresh my browser. Thanks Brock, your finishing maneuver taugh me a lot.

*hits the F5, refreshes browser.* Woohoo!

Yeah, I am bored, too.

Yeah but I'd have to move my hand to the mouse, and then move the cursor over the refresh button, and then gather up the strength to actually CLICK the button.

I'm bored and all, but I'm not THAT bored... jeez...

If I was THAT bored, I'd be posing and spitting water.... oh wait, if I was that BORING, my bad...

(Actually I'm expecting a decent to good match out of the Cerebral Assassin on RAW)

RFG, you made your 1000th post and didn't mention Bow Wow? SHAME!

(I found that "F5" joke pretty funny, btw.)

RobE.. someone has to say this. Your banner.. it's good and all.. but it's so damned stupid. I'm sorry, the whole "meek" thing doesnt sound that tough or clever. Just saying.

As far as Summerslam goes, I think it will be one of the stronger cards of the last year. And you're right. It SHOULD be a Triple Main Event.

Its Jericho and Ric Flair, by gawd.

Hopefully I don't sound stupid, but why do they call the move F-5? Is it supposed to mean anything, or is that the name that it was originally called by whomever invented it? (Or did Nova invent this move, too?)

A F-5 is the strongest known category for a tornado's wind speed on a scale called the Fujita scale shown below.

----F-5 (Incredible tornado, 261-318 mph)

Strong frame houses lifted off foundations and carried considerable distances to disintegrate; automobile sized missiles fly through the air in excess of 100 meters; trees debarked; steel re-inforced concrete structures badly damaged.------

Brock Lesnar's move is called that because it resembles the tornadoes' spin and the "damage" his move causes.

If a finisher isn't understood when you first hear it's name, etc... then it needs to have it's name changed. Hell, I thought it had something to do with airplanes. As for the F5...

...don't feel stupid, I had no clue that it refreshed the page either, untill now that is. :D :D :D

Actually, JR explained the name after Brock's first official matches. And I like that it's somewhat vague. I mean, think about all the Japanese move names that make no sense to us crazy gaijin. I mean, what the fuck is a space flying tiger drop?!?

As for the tornado thing, some of those winds are strong enough to send a piece of straw through the trunk of an oak tree. Damn.

Hey, thanks, DH.

I have to agree with Downhome, though ... if a finisher's name needs to be explained, then it's not a good name.

It's worse when a finisher name doesn't even have a plausible explanation for it. (The Maple Leaf)

Actually, the Pedigree and Maple Leaf both worked well as move names.

Pedigree is a term referring to being of very high breed - or something like that. I normally hear it in reference to dogs; like, if a dog came from a very pure breed, it'd be a pedigree.

Anyway, the word means something like that. HHH first started using the name in his "blue blood" gimmick, and never changed it.

And the Maple Leaf, if I'm not mistaken, was Lance Storm's half-crab in WCW. Now, discounting the fact that it's not a credible finisher really, the Maple Leaf name comes from the fact that Storm is a Canadian. Look at the flag; you'll understand.

I know about the Canadian flag (I should know) - it's just that the half crab doesn't ressemble anything remotely close to a maple leaf.

I think this is the point of contention... you have to go into a paragraph each to explain the move, ergo, according to Downhome:

if a finisher's name needs to be explained, then it's not a good name

I don't necessarily agree with it, but that's what he's trying to say.

Incidentally, I think the majority of us know where the two moves get their names. But try explaining the Pedigree to a newbie who never saw Paul Levesque's blue-blood incarnation. Aye, there's the rub.

Now I'm off to refresh my browser...

;)

I turned off profiles so I had to click on his profile to see it, but I still don't get it. Is he implying that HHH held all those guys down? Because I sure don't remember Hunter squashing the Hurricane.

Hmm.. everytime I try to switch off sigs, it tells me I am trying to hack the board.

Then it kicks my ass.

I think another reason why Storm's finisher is the Maple Leaf is that it's a bit of a play off of the Texas Cloverleaf.

I never really got that name fully either. I mean, I see how the way the legs end up being shaped resembles the state of Texas, but how did the "Cloverleaf" get in there?

So now anytime we get a clever name for a finisher, it's bad cause some people don't get it?

Some people don't "get" Steamboat/Flair either.
